Phillies SUCK

Let's go YANKEES!

We have to avoid having our players stabbed while in philly as well.

Jimmy14 - October 26, 2009 03:37 PM (GMT)
Phillies know how to win.

stevedepot - October 26, 2009 03:41 PM (GMT)
Yankees in 5.

Philthy has not seen a lineup like this that can take pitches,
work a pitch count and eat up your bullpen.

3POTI - October 26, 2009 03:50 PM (GMT)
this one is going to be a tough series for the yankees. But I feel the yanks will win. Just as long as their pitching keeps it up. And ofcourse ARod continue's to play good. But Tex, swisher and matsui needs to start getting it done.

Shooter - October 26, 2009 04:06 PM (GMT)
I'm a Yankees fan and feel they haven't even played an A game except for once in the entire playoffs. If they play like they have (not hitting with runners in scoring position, etc), they will lose to the Phils in 5 games. If guys like Cano, Swisher, Tex get going, they'll win it in 6.

Westfall18 - October 26, 2009 10:09 PM (GMT)
LETS GO YANKEES!!

Phillies fan arrested for sex-for-tickets offer
By Reid Cherner & Tom Weir

user posted image

The Philadelphia Daily News contends Phillies fans have demonstrated more loyalty than Yankees fans, and also says World Series tickets are in greater demand in Philadelphia.

Confirmation of that perhaps is provided by a story about a woman who allegedly offered to prove Philadelphia is "The City of Brotherly Love" in exchange for World Series tickets.

The AP reports police in the Philadelphia suburb of Bensalem have arrested a woman who posted an ad on Craigslist saying she was a die-hard Phillies fan, and also a buxom blonde in desperate need of Series tickets. The ad, according to police, said the price was negotiable and added, "I’m the creative type! Maybe we can help each other!"

Police said an undercover officer responded to the online ad and that 43-year-old Susan Finkelstein offered a variety of sex acts for tickets. We're guessing that included access to second and third base.

In case you're wondering, Steve Phillips was upset over the arrest as he now has to attend the game.

down 2-0....yankees getting dominated by lee and utley (phillies)...if they didn't know before, they know now, they're playing a real team now. Time to wake up the bats or this will be a short series.

stevedepot - October 29, 2009 02:26 AM (GMT)
They said the same thing when they faced the Braves more than a decade ago.

There's only 1 Yankees team. Everyone else wants to be them.

They'll win.

Phillies 6

Phillies lead the series 1-0

Yankees looked :puke:

DannyBinAtlanta - October 29, 2009 12:35 PM (GMT)
The Yanks have NOT hit as a team this entire post-season. They've allowed the heroes to get them by: CC, A Rod, Tex, Mo. There was only ONE game that they ran up the score Yankee style (Minnesota) and that wasn't until the end of the game when the win was already a lock.

The Yankees starting pitching and even bullpen relief has been solid in most games. It's only recently that middle relief has suffered. CC pitched a gem, making two bad pitches to a guy you don't make bad pitches to.

If the Yankees want to win they have to start hitting the way the did in the second half of the season: as a team. Use the hit and run again. Steal a bag when there's 1 out and a runner on. But for the most part, guys need to start swinging the bat. Swisher has been dreadful. If it wasn't for his excellent defensive play, I'd bench him in favor of Gardner.

Game 2 tonight. Let's get it done. :angrier:

A-Rod alley ooping the "basehit" led to the only run by Philly. Looks like he'll be useless now.

3POTI - October 30, 2009 09:53 PM (GMT)
I really hope Arod breaks out of his mini slump along with the rest of the team. It seems like hamel can really be had, if the yanks are patient, and not get fooled.(easier said then done). But I'm confident in the yanks. They'll do it.

Philthy fans are waking up with 2 types of diarrhea this mornin.
The usual diarrhea of the mouth and the morning after cheese steak ulcer pain squirts.

Couldn't happen to a more deserving fan base.

:D

Between Mariano Rivera, Jorge Posada, Derek Jeter, and Andy Pettite, there are 20 World Series rings.

That's enough rings for all your fingers and all your toes.

Just let that sink in.

Webb20 - November 5, 2009 01:14 PM (GMT)
Congrats to the NY Yankees, the greatest franchise in the history of man.

And congrats to the Steinbrenner family, who's dedication to winning continues into the next generation.

:applaud:

stevedepot - November 5, 2009 02:29 PM (GMT)
What a game, what a series, what a playoff and what a year.

Only negative from last nights world series was that the guys holding the "Official" WS T-shirts managed to be one of the first 7 guys running on the field followed by the guy ready to hand out the caps.

I always find that annoying while I totally understand the whole marketing aspect of why it's done in every sport now for several years.

27 is a great number.

I truly hope that none of you Islanders fans are actually Yankee$$$$$$ fans, are we? :D

I've gotta take note the next time I hear complaining about how much money the Rangers spend. Don't the Yankee$$ spend 4 or 5 times the amount?

I smell hypocrisy. ;) :D

Different business model.

Rangers <--- brag about their "rich history". What history? 4 cups? original 6?
3 cups won during 6 team league.

Yankees <--- don't need to brag.

27 world titles. 40 pennants.
Countless hall of famers, icons and pioneers of the game adorn legends field.
Huge revenue stream.

There is no comparison.

The Rangers suck as a franchise no matter how they spin it.
You're ONLY a success if you spend and win.

;)

Poor argument Steve.

Only 1 of the 27 championships came during the time when the Yankee$ had the blatantly higher payroll.

Even during the late 90's dynasty, the Yankee$ payroll was not that much higher than the others teams'. They didn't start this insane spending til after that run.

yes, took the baron von steingrabber a good decade plus to get it right, but the BODY of work
paid dividends.

have the Rangers matched that???

Your very argument only helps to hilight what a disgrace the rangers have been while spending money.

For almost the last 2 decades they've been consistently in the top 5 salary teams,
long before the cap and what have they accomplished???

:P

The Yankees had an overzealous owner who wised up and allowed baseball people to take over
and he stopped meddling, then things fell into place with HOME grown talent complimented by free agent prizes. All paid for with revenue earned.

Let's not put the homegrown talent on the same level as the free agents. The NY Yankee$ spent half a billion dollars worth of players this year.

I'm not arguing in favor of the Rangers here, just saying the Yankee$ go by the same model.

Hey steve, are you trying to tell me that your level of acceptance and repsect is based on reults. Please don't tell me you'd be praising the Rangers' spending ways if they'd run off a bunch of Cups in a row??

Somehow I think you'd still be ripping thme for their gluttony. ;)

No, don't play the spin game.

Just using the RESULTS to make the point and outline the difference between the 2 franchises.

You can argue all you want about Texeira, Burnett and Sabathia LONG TERM value of their contracts and lump it all togethr to make you point.
But teh core of that team???

Pettitte, Jeter, Posada and Rivera, all home grown.

How about Cabrera, Cano, Hughes, Chamberlain?

Ahhh, why bother. They would have NEVER won anything unless they did it YOUR way yes?

Go ahead, tear the above logic apart. Doesn't matter.

The Yankees are champions, again. They spent money.

The Rangers are not. They spend money.

Some people buy apples, some buy farms and grow apples and spend the money they make
to buy machinery to better harvest and grow their farm.

You seem to be spinning a bit.

The Yankee$ had those core players from 2001-2008 and all the while kept a revolving door of huge long-term contracts. They could not win a championship.

They also had young homegrown players during these years, some of which you mentioned. (Cano was bought by the way, not drafted. Same with Wang.)

Again, in no way am I trying to compare teh historical success of teh Rangers and the Yankee$.

Again, my question to you is, if the Rangers were to go out and win the Cup this year, would you not once bring up the money argument?

Me personally? Or Yankees fans?
What is your point or issue?
Trying to devalue the Yankees to make yourself feel better?
Or trying to defend your Rangers for their spending habits?

I notice how you assume the Yanks are total failures the last decade. They've still managed to win pennants. Rangers? had one of the top 3 payrolls in the LEAGUE from 98 to 04 and missed the playoffs ALTOGETHER.

There is NO comparison between the Yankees and Rangers. PERIOD.

You do not compare one of the most storied franchises with one that has been
a joke to everyone besides the very fans that root for it.

And to answer your question, if your Rangers won the cup this year. I would laugh after I woke up and realized it was a dream...

 :goofy2: ;)
