Title: Bumped again for preseason hoops???

 This is bull$hit!!!! It's bad enough getting bumped off HD for the Devils, but to get bumped for a preseason basketball game shows a complete lack of respect IMO.

A) We didn't get bumped for Pre-season basketball, we got bumped cause the Devils were on MSG+. MSG(the channel) is NOT the home of the Isles.

B.) We usually like to bitch and moan about this in the game thread.

So does mine!!! IMO the Islanders should take precedent over both the Devils and preseason basketball. Sucks being treated like a minor league organization.

Maybe if they were run like a major league team or played like one they wouldn't be treated like a minor league team.

Its all about ratings and whether you like it or not the Isles do not bring in ratings higher then the Devil, Knicks or the Rangers. When you have a network that needs to service 4 Teams there is always something that gets bumped....and the minor league team usual does.

I doubt very highly that the Devils get any ratings on LI. With today's technology they should be able to show Islanders games in HD on LI.

"Today's Technology" has very little to do with it. Its mostly about advertising reveune, they are much more likely to get an advertiser to buy a 30sec spot when they know its going to be aired to potenially 15 mil homes in the tri-state area, then only giving it to one state or 2 counties. What about Westchester, which game should they broadcast there? should they take a survey in each county to see which feed should be fed on which channel?

If the Isles were on SNY, they would get bumped to SNY 2 when the Nets are on, because even the Nets bring in higher ratings then the Isles. This has nothing to do with MSG and everything to do with the Isles not being attractive to advertisers.

I agree. I think it's ridiculous that they can't put in an extra HD channel. Then I wouldn't give a sh!t what channel they were on.

Not every county, but they should be shown in HD on Long Island. They are LI's team. I don't know any Devils fans on LI, not even one.

I know a few, but they are few and far between. There are hardly any Devils fans in NJ. MSG is just a joke. I swear that they do it just to f#@k with us.

IT STINKS THAT SOME OF YOU HAD CRAPPY RECEPTION FOR THE GAME LAST NIGHT- then again was it the reception or what we were seeing on the ice?
I WAS TOTALLY SURPRISED BUT THEN AGAIN
LAST SEASON ALL THE GAMES ON CH.14
HAD THE SAME RECEPTION FOR ME AS IF YOU WERE USING RABBIT EARS TO GET THE SIGNAL
AND I DIDNT HAVE RABBIT EARS :fear:

In all likely hood its not MSG, MSG provides the cable provider 3 feeds and the cable provider puts those feeds on the channels...so really you'd want cablevision to change the Devils/Isles feed on opposite channels.

Now in this case cablevision and MSG are owned by the same person but in places that have TWC, Fios, Satellite provider you would expect the same choice of channels. I know its frustrating and we want to blame it on the Dolan's but its really not as easy as you think....heck there might even be FCC regulation involved since TV is regionalized.

OF COURSE IF YOU COMPLAIN TO CABLEVISION
YOU JUST KNOW SOMEWHERE THEY ARE THINKING
HEY YOU GET HD FOR FREE SO STFU

In Ohio, I watched last 2 seasons of Time Warners Center Ice, this year I am trying NHL Gamecenter which is on PC. Now that I got it to work, the whole production and views are much better on NHL Gamecenter, and the interactive stats and such are a plus. You can also view 4 games at once. Disadvantage is you can't DVR or record games to view when you want immediately, instead you can view games that have past within 24 to 48 hours at will from archives.

Also, Isles looking good at times. Tavares, OK, Moulson, and Streit have been impressive. Isles also looking terrible at times. Soon we can take consolation in the Taylor Hall lottery if things don't improve.

Everyone should write to cablevision regarding the lack of HD coverage on the Islanders.

I spoke to someone last night about it, and they said CV deems that the Islanders do not have the ratings to warrent putting them on the HD feeds and therefore put the devils on there instead.

I said that BS because the Islanders HAVEN'T been on the HD feeds all the time therefore how can they ACCURATELY calculate their ratings???

If you cant find the freakin' game or the channel they put it on is NOT offered in all markets of course the Ratings are going to suffer!!

Again, all islanders fans should contact cablevision and complain. Let them know their ratings argument is BS!
