Title: Miro's around??

The consensus among the Islanders is that the Yankees will win the American League Championship Series.

More on this in the paper in the coming days, but they think the Yankees will win an extended series. Not that they're all pulling for it, they just expect it.

Nate Thompson, a Cubs fan, said, "I don't like the Yankees. At all. But they're just too good."

*      *      *

Other notes from practice today: Rick DiPietro experienced no problems from a more strenuous practice yesterday. He worked out on his own, but as Scott Gordon said, "He's got a smile on his face."

While the Islanders were practicing in the main rink at IceWorks, Cup winner Miroslav Satan,  unsigned, was skating by himself in the smaller rink.

Miro or Tamby.....Miro or Wrecked......Miro or Thompson.....

Sounds like he'd sign cheap and help us score more. And kill penalties. And.....he can skate. Maybe he's worth a look if he's hungry.

How about a Bergenheim - Bailey - Satan line?

The feeder, the shooter, and the first man in.

:letssee:

I would rather see Joensuu, DB, Smith or Martin given a look on the Island first.

Nah.....why rush them? We might be seeing what "he's ready" means for once and for all - Bailey.

Let's take Miro so we can be careful and patient with the younger guys and truly do a first class rebuild.

Or second class.

(I hope Bailey's injured or just figuring things out with his new body mass - otherwise we rushed another lemming off the developmental cliff so to speak)

Satan has no business being around a team in rebuilding. His sniper days are long gone.

Stay far far away from him. I agree with Webby. Look at the younger options already in house.

He may not be a sniper anymore, but maybe we can use him as the enforcer? Would you want to mess with Satan? :shedevil:

I agree with Webb on this. No need to go backwards. Satan isn't good enough to take up a spot from a kid. Joensuu would be my choice. I thought he looked good when he came up last year.

None of the guys mentioned will have any big impact on this franchise. It's up to Snow whether he wants to improve the team as it is now or play for the first pick again.

Miro would not add anything to the team.

Now that his big scoring days are over, he's essentially a slower Tambelini.

I pass.

Um..no...What has Tambellini done? Satan at least had a career. And he would be more productive now than Tambellini. Then again, an ice girl would be more productive than Tambellini.

j-money4080 - October 14, 2009 11:54 PM (GMT)
take him only on the cheap, if sucks dump him. But playing devil's advocate if he produces it will help the team, and perhaps we could trade him to a contender, which might be the incentive he needs to play well. You could probably get something nice back if he plays well and we package him with Biron, who we all can agree will more than likely be moved on or before the deadline

Key word is had.

He's just a slow player who's lost his touch, but still tries to play like a sniper. He floated around with the best team in the league last year, and didn't do much.

Trust me, I liked Miro as much as anyone while he was here. Even when he slowed down in his last year with us, I liked him. But he's only gotten worse, and there's just no place for him on this team.

Why would a bad Miro have no place on this team when he would be one of your top 3 players
and I'm being kind to the other two. :torrey:

If you don't count Weight's numbers, he must have more lifetime NHL goals than the rest of the Islanders Team.
As a matter of fact, I saw he got 9 point in 10 games last year in the AHL. We really like those AHL guys, you know. Like Tambellini, he is poised to break out in the NHL.

On the cheap? We're talking about the NY Islanders who pulled the plug on our radio coverage for less than the price of what Miro would take.

If they sign him, I'd be pissed as the money would've been better spent for our radio team.

Well, if they signed Satan, it would be for a stupifying amount like they gave Sutton, Witt, etc. At least we would then know the team was still being operated business as usual in light of the Lighthouse drama. :disgraced:
