Title: Schremp
Description: who is this guy
Webb20 - October 11, 2009 12:44 PM (GMT)
Who is this guy Schremp, where did he come from and why the hell would Edmonton waive him?
He's everywhere in the offensive zone. First to the puck, great speed, and is thinking score, score, score all the time.
:dontknow:
4CUPZ - October 11, 2009 01:28 PM (GMT)
MAYBE IN EDMONTON IT WAS MORE THINKING THAN SCORING???
:letssee: ....PAPINEAU... TAMBELLINI... :rotflmao: :rotflmao: :rotflmao:
Isles75 - October 11, 2009 02:17 PM (GMT)
Do they build barns big enough for Tambellini to hit????
What about the ocean, could he put the puck in that :letssee:
Anyway, very true Schremp looked very good against the Bruins.
stevedepot - October 11, 2009 02:59 PM (GMT)
I watch alot of oilers games each year.
Since they drafted him, they had a "Robert Nilsson" like puck magician on their hands that
the team wanted to develop into a complete player because he lacked intensity they needed.
He played like a pussy 5 on 5. But like a man on a mission on the powerplay.
He suffered through a terrible system and weak ahl team last year.
He's an upgrade over Tambellini. Tambellini is stronger on his skates but Schremp has more upside offensively if he gets his head straight.
Looked good last night. Real good.

AN UPGRADE OVER TAMBELLINI
BOY IS THAT A SELLING POINT
MY WHITE LAB IS AN UPGRADE

I also liked the hit he laid on Ottawa after they took a run at one of our players. Showed me some grit there that Tambellina hasn't shown yet.

yeah, he got called for an elbow.
The key to him will be if and when he begins to willingly take a hit to make a play and keep an offensive cycle or pressure going.
That was his downfall in Edmonton. Soft play.
Maybe the change of scenery and being closer to home was the wake up call.
We may luck out with this scrap heap claiming.

Not impressed so far. Yes, he played well in Boston. But his penalty-a-rama display during the last period in Ottawa was profoundly annoying. I support having him here, because we need to explore any options for an upgrade at forward, but I'm looking for and expecting more than he's shown.
We used to have great success reclaiming guys from bad situations . . . Ray Ferraro . . . Benoit Hogue . . . sometimes they take time to adjust to a new team. Hopefully Schremp will take a few weeks and then emerge.
Isles75 - October 11, 2009 06:49 PM (GMT)
Tambellini's a frustrating Islander to deal with. He does work hard most of the time, I'll give him that. With all the ice time he as gotten over the last year and a half, he always has a ton of great opportunity's with the puck. But it seems you always hear the boards every time he shoots or totally out deaks himself.

Love Schremp in cocktail sauce :drink2:
Mulefan - October 11, 2009 09:03 PM (GMT)
I don't know why he didn't make it in Edmonton, but off of one game I think he could turn out to be a steal. If he plays that way consistently he is leaps and bounds better than Tambellini.
BritBlueNOrange - October 11, 2009 09:19 PM (GMT)
A couple of years ago we was down as one of their top prospects... i remember seeing some stuff and his stickwork... he had some amazing hands...
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IwovbIyPYJk&feature=relatedtheres a tonne of vid's about him on the tube and his obvious skillz... but as steve said... has a somewhat "Robert Nilsson"complex"

The book on him in Edmonton was as follows....
1- MacTAvish didn't like him. That has been the word, though no specifics as to why given.
2- Skating...he's lose a race to a zamboni. Apparently, Edmonton was not high on his skating and was angry that he was not working hard to improve his skating.
3- Sick puck skills and sees the ice well. He is considered a set up guy center.
Edmonton is set at center and Schremp was the odd man out. He needs to be a top 2 line guy, but Edmonton was not convinced he has the skating to do it. Apparently he didn't play much during Ed's preseason and chirped up about it. It was the one time he's spoken out about playing time and Ed decided enough's enough.
I'm glad he's here. Unlike Dr. Gen, I approved of the elbow in Ottawa simply because it came right after Neil had run Bailey and Tavares had been run earlier. I want someone to send a message that you cant run our future and get away with it.
This kid is a project. He has some rep rehab to do, but if he can perform on the ice, great. If not, it is an inexpensive project.

In another thread I picked him as our "black horse" surprise of the year. Don't know what happened in Edmonton, don't care. The guy can skate, handle the puck and shoot. And he made a beautiful pass against the B's which I liked to see- meaning he's not a puck hog.
This may be his "new locale makes all the difference" type player. And I disagree that he is slow- saw him in the opener where he skated in the pre-game and was a scratch- he looked pretty fast to me.
And he will not hurt us in shootouts. Hell, everybody saw the You Tube stuff, the guy is magic in the shootout. And based on the fact that we seem to be in one every night, he's a keeper.
Called it before and will upgrade it now- with a regular shift on this team he'll net 20 goals.
And I'm sticking to it.

Don't blame our system, we can't do that, ask Gordon.
The system is great.
:yea:
Springfield was a weak team and poorly run. Alot of Edmonton fans knew what was going on that's why many were sad to see him placed on waivers.
He'll get playing time here without worrying about messing up.
We have enough guys on D to do that and garner more attention.

I dont think I've ever seen a skating stride quite like Schrempie's and I've watched alot of hockey in my life
almost seems to stay in the upright position.
definately looked a bit more comfortable v.s the Kings

Why were expectations ever so high for Tambellini the weanie around here?
He was only projected to be a career third line player, second at best.
Don't tell me because he scored 30 goals in the AHL. That friggin Giroux guy scores like 80 goals a year down there but can't crack an NHL lineup.

Because of the Islander hype machine. I saw a post from about a week ago where someone said Tamby needs first line and PP time before he is judged.
The only explanation that makes sense is that there is backmasking in the audio of the Islander Telecasts. Play the game backwards, you will be able to make out "Tambellini is better than Bossy" and "50 goals in 23 games for Jeff Tambellini".

Don't look at me. I've lead the charge against those shrine builders.
Hell, I've even won bets(still unpaid) counting on his ineptitude. :yea:

If you've followed the news lately and the broadcasts...well, they've covered it ad nauseum.
he's been a healthy scratch. Tambellini's been playing well. etc etc etc.

Rick needs someone to shoot in predetermined spots on the net so he can get back into game shape.

A personal shooter for practice. I like it.
But it should be Ovechkin.

Ovechkin doesn't have the lacrosse thing down.
