Sergei Kostitsyn was demoted by the Montreal Canadiens on Sunday and now his days with the club may be over.
According to RDS, Kostitsyn has been suspended by the Canadiens for refusing to report to the Hamilton Bulldogs of the AHL. In return, Kostitsyn has asked for a trade.
Last season, the Belarussian native scored eight goals and added 15 assists for 23 points in 56 games.
According to the Montreal Gazette, there is speculation that Kostitsyn is looking at playing in the Russian-based Kontinental Hockey League.

This is the problem, unfortunately, with import players. They know they'll get work in Russia so they do what they feel like over here. This is why a CBA between the NHL and KHL needs to be reached. It's a big, big problem.
