Just ignore this. The Sharks hope to contend for the Cup; so they're not going to trade a core player even if it brings in a top prospect. And the Isles aren't going to trade a core piece of the rebuild for a project (like Cheechoo).

They don'y have a choice. They're in cap trouble and are forced to get rid of one of their top players (Cheechoo, Marleau, etc.)

Marleau is a top player and would require a top prospect in return.

Cheechoo is a millstone around their necks that they'd dump for cap relief.

I just saw this rumor on Hockey Buzz totally on my own. My reaction to it was to come right here to see people starting to jump off bridges.

First of all, the Islanders are not trading Kyle Okposo for anybody. There isn't anyone on either Montreal or San Jose that I'd ever trade Okposo for. So let's chill out with that. KO is as important to this rebuild as Tavares.

Secondly, he said prospect. Leads me to believe the guy isn't in the NHL.

Third, this is coming from Eklund. I've read rumors from Eklund about guys coming to the Isles every day for the last three weeks. The two guys we got, Roloson and Biron, he didn't even have a clue on.

This is a bullshit rumor (as most are). When it's on Point Blank then I'll believe it.
