MN State High School Hockey Tourney started today. I'll have to make breaks to check in on the :isles:

(State's all time point leader has a hat trick in the 2nd period of the 1st game of the tourney. Ummm this kid can :score: )

RichPilon#47 - March 12, 2009 05:35 PM (GMT)
GO HABS GO!!!!!!!!!!!!!

rifleman22 - March 12, 2009 05:58 PM (GMT)
Lose, but play well doing it.

Tampa has Toronto, go Lightning.

And if you look at the remaining games, I think we have the tougher schedule but you never know who has locked a spot, etc.

As I've said in other threads, we have no control, but we can root for what's best for us.

Every game is a win-win.

If we win, the kids probably did well and we probably scored goals. - Win
If we lose, we get Tavares. - Win
If we go to OT, we're giving points away, and we probably scored goals. - Double win.

When is a win not a win? Winning meaningless games and missing out on Tavares and Hedman is not a win.

Short term pain = long term gain.

The Islanders' injury bug has reached the point where they practically are inventing ways to get hurt. Forward Kurtis McLean, who is on emergency callup from Bridgeport, will not be available tonight in Montreal because he -- you won't believe this one -- sustained a leg injury during a pre-game soccer game. There is no timetable for his recovery.

Nearly every team has a group of players who like to warm up before a game by playing soccer in the hallway outside their dressing room. Some use a hacky sack, but soccer is a favorite pasttime because it gets the juices flowing and tests the reflexes. The games have been known to get raucous. So, McLean got hurt in the most innocent of ways. What will the Isles think of next? Stay tuned.

Bruno Gervais slips on peel, suffers concussion. Out indefinitely.

Why can't we just lose with old, overpaid, gutless wonders like the rest of the crap teams we're apparently chasing. (Belushi voice:) But, nooooo . . . We have to call up young players who will fight for ice time and show real effort.

Tonight I'm wearing my old school Habs trucker cap. Go Habs.

Nothing wrong with rooting for us to lose right now. The staircase back up to the throne room starts in the basement.
