Yes, a sold out MSG crowd cheers goals by Bossy and Gillies as the NHL stars play against the Soviet National team in the 1979 Challenge Cup.

While most remember this series for the wipeout the NHL stars suffered in the deciding game, the first two games in the series were closely contested.

Check out the goals by Boss and Jethro in this clip.

Boss deserves kudos for a great steal and setting up Jethro's goal.

Also fun viewing for anyone who might wonder what the Trio Grande would have looked like with Kenny Dryden in the Islanders' nets. :D

That's series in 1979 really amplifies what an upset the 1980 USA olympic team's victory.

Wasn't Potvin on that team? Didn't see him once in that video. Funny that we sent an entire forward line to play in that.

That stuff linked to Wikipedia, where Jethro is written up as being an enforcer. While he played that role, especially when the team broke the Stanley Cup door down in 1980, I saw him as more of a power forward.
Does anyone know how to correct that?
