Title: Remember that game?
Description: Islanders Games

Post a memorable game from years past. Highlights would be nice if they are available. If not, just talk about a random Isles game from the past.

Rick Dipietro 50+ save night at the Garden. Although we lost in a SO, it was a great game. The good ol days

I was actually at that game but I wouldn't consider 2-3 years ago the good old days. Was a fun game to be at for sure though!

Ricky stood on his head that night but that game was far from memorable. I remember being sick to my stomach after losing that shootout. The only goal they scored was a BS Petr Prucha goal. Will never forget it. That was one rare game when I really felt BEFORE THE SHOOTOUT that game should have just ended in a tie. That was Ricky at his best.

I was at that game, sitting 10 rows off the ice where DP defended the net twice. It was a great effort but considering NYI's history hardly a really memorable moment.

I'd mention the greatest goaltending performance I'd ever seen which was B Smith on a Sunday in Edmonton for Game 1 of the 1983 Cup finals where he frustrated and blanked Gretzky, Kurri, Messier etc. to start getting Cup 4.

The night they retired Mike Bossy's jersey. Went with my dad, sat lower level at the blue line. Don't remember anything about the game except that I was there with my dad. Still get chills remembering watching that banner get raised to the rafters of the old barn.

I was there that night too. The sad thing was the Coliseum had about 2000 empty seats and wasn't sold out.

The best Game Four I've ever seen, with the possible exception of the 1983 Final against the Oilers.

I'm sure a lot of folks will remember this game. For the folks who might not, if you watch the clip, among other things, you'll see Tommy Fitzgerald score two shorthanders on a single penalty kill. The ironic part was that the penalty was actually committed by Fitzgerald. The refs sent Claude Loiselle to the box instead.

Also, you'll see two goals by Derek King. The day of this game, the local papers were just eating King alive for choking in the playoffs. When he scores, the first goal, you can actually watch the monkey finally climb off his back. Sportschannel used King's goal celebration in opening Isles' broadcasts for several seasons.

Even though I wasn't there but one of favorite Islander-Ranger games I remember watching was in 1996 when the Isles ended the Rangers home unbeaten streak that everyone was making a big deal about that year. This was also the game that Mike Milbury spat on Ulf Sammuelson after he took out Todd Bertuzzi.
