Title: Tavaras Injured?

dr_eagle - January 15, 2009 03:28 PM (GMT)
Last night Tavaras left the Junior Top Prospects Game after being hit behind the net. He did not return and it looked like a shoulder injury.

Don't worry, he'll be "medically cleared" to be drafted.

But we still won't pick him. We'll pick someone else instead or trade down.

I would be completely shocked if won the pick and we picked tavaras.

I'm totally expecting us to screw this up...it wouldn't be the Islanders if we didn't.

I'm expecting the league to give us the 3rd pick in the lottery

If you want this guy so much to be a star player for us, then please spell his name right for once. It's T-A-V-A-R-E-S

I thought if we finished last in the league, the lowest we can go in the lottery is #2?

LONDON, Ont. — London Knights forward John Tavares is listed as day-to-day after suffering a right shoulder injury in Wednesday’s Top Prospects Game.

The star junior was scratched from Thursday’s home game against the Kitchener Rangers but Knights assistant general manager Jim McKellar said he could be ready to play as soon as Friday against Guelph or Monday in Plymouth.

McKellar said X-rays showed no broken bones or shoulder separation.

The 18-year-old forward from Oakville, Ont., who was traded to the Knights by the Oshawa Generals last week, is a possible No. 1 pick in the NHL draft in June.

Tavares was injured on a punishing hit by Zack Kassian of the Peterborough Petes in the Home Hardware CHL/NHL Top Prospects Game in Oshawa. He left the game and didn’t return to the ice.

Tavares was recently named the most valuable player at the world junior hockey championships.
