Howdy all...

Well I was initially planning to make the trek to the Island in March for the "Alumni Weekend" which sources told me was initially planned for March 7-8 during those matinee games....

But I'm starting to hear grumblings that in fact nothing special will be going on this year...has anyone on the board heard anything?

Looks like my road trip will be delayed a year.... :angry:

If memory serves me correctly, I think that last year's "Core of the Four" Celebration was going to be the last thing for awhile, unless of course another Islander is inducted into the Isles Hall of Fame a la Bob Bourne

What I picked up late last season and when the schedule came out was that they were targeting another era of the alum (either 75 squad or 93 squad for example) and invite them over for a weekend with some of the established alumni...

There was also talk of that "740" banner for Al to be raised as well...the main motivation for my trip...

But now it seems that it's either been pushed back to next year or being re-evaluated I guess or something would have been made official by now...

What sucks is I bet they made the request to the scheduler to set up matinees on that weekend and it will be for not...so future requests may not be granted..

I caught Trotts and Smitty at the Legends Game here in Barrie last night......

Bournie was supposed to be there initially but didn't make it....

Trotts still is great with the fans....getting the kids going and even brought out his guitar to sing some Willie Nelson.....

Smitty (who played well the last time I saw him at the HHOF game last year) played like crap but didn't care he was having a great time hehe.....

We caught Trotts on the way out of the adjascent restaurant shortly after the game and he was kind enough to sign my buddy's son's jersey...he was occupied with a couple of calls so I didn't bother him.....

Thank God!!! I love the history and all but im getting tired of them parading out the same guy every year and calling it something different.

The history is all the Islanders have = :cup: :cup: :cup: :cup:

OH YEAH

THE TEAM WILL BE GEARING UP FOR NEXT SEASONS SPECIAL GET TOGETHER

"THE WE DIDNT WIN sh!t WEEKEND"

AND WILL FLY IN ALL THE ZEROES FROM LOSING SEASONS PAST
