Title: G - Joey MacDonald

Webb20 - November 17, 2008 01:25 PM (GMT)
Time to rate our netminder, Joe MacDonald. A couple of things I'd like to say. First, this guy overcame a strike against him before the season started as he couldnt get a fair shake when we signed him and the controversy it created with regards to Dubie.

Second, and this is a big one, and one that goes out to Westfall18. Please try to get your section and Loudville to use the chant "BIG MAC" instead of "Jo-ey". 'Jo-ey' sounds so so little boyish. He's a big guy with a mean streak and he deserves a more intimidating chant.

for a goalie who worked under osgood and hasek, he's been THE back-up goalie any team can ask for. nice job, Mac.

Big Mac Attack? :dontknow: I'm still thinking we need to get McDonalds behind this and give out free Big Macs for a Joey Mac shutout..

I won't lie, I was a hater when the season started. I thought that Joey was basically a log in the net, and couldn't save a beachball thrown by a toddler. While that statement was completley true last year, this year...just...WOW.

He has been very solid in net, and has made some big time saves, that frankly, back ups should not be making.

Hopefully him and the 35 shots the Isles give up every game will lead me and my fantasy hockey team to vicory.
Big Mac= :cup:

I was thinking about how thin we are at the goaltender position behind DiPietro with Joey Mac, Yan Dannis and the newly signed Peter Mannino.

I knew Mac played OK while backing up for Dubie late last year, but who would think he would be carrying the Isles on his back. Off the top of my head..with the exception of the Buffalo game he gave the Isles a chance to win just about every nite. He is carrying this team on his back the way DiPietro should be carrrying this team.

surprised me so far. Still not sure if he is really that good. very good backup or new franchise goalie. :letssee:

would def. like to see him for the whole year. This way can make a better decision on whether or not to make that blockbuster trade of The Rick Man.

Another big game for Big Mac and another spot in the penthouse for him.

Joey Mac, I said it before and I'll say it again. Is..MONEY IN THE BANK!

Fellow Nassau Coliseum faithful. I will make that suggestion come next game to the rest of the 329 hooligans. ;)

It seems like he gets better with each start he makes.

New York Islanders(9-10-2, Previous: 25) – What to do about Rick DiPietro? Not much the Islanders can do. They should have learned something from the signing of Alexei Yashin years ago before doing the same thing with the now injury-prone and unmovable goaltender. It’s hard to feel sorry for this team. At least Joey MacDonald has given the few fans who show up a reason to cheer. Sad what this franchise has become.

......what a f*#@ing douche bag

I have to admit...I was p!ssed when Joey was essentially given the back-up role. I thought Dubie deserved it far more. But now, Joey has really played well...far surpassing ALL expectations...he deserves all-star consideration. He's probably been the most pleasant surprise this season. The only question is...how long can he keep it up?

Has anyone checked Mac D's recent stats? He's ranked 8th overall (AHEAD OF OSGOOD AND FLEURY!) in wins. WINS, people.
