Title: Rear suspension. GV250
Description: Tweaking
proxyissues - June 10, 2008 12:52 AM (GMT)
I did a forum search and a Google search and can't seem to find my answer.
In the owner's manual (downloaded the PDF of it) the bike seems to have 5 positions for the rear suspension, 1 being softest 5 stiffest and it ships with default setting of 1.
Has anyone played around with the right setting for two riders or come across any *proper* setting based on weight carried? Just curious after hearing from a co-worker who when riding with their husband was bottoming out (a Triumph).

EVERYONE will have an answer that works for them..
As its an adjustment that you can do would suggest just trying different settings and see how they feel for you.
What works for errol or dragonrider can be completly different for you.

:old: Not on a GV but with my Venox I have had to go to the hardest setting with my son on back and I for get to turn it back, I suspect this is why I was losing so many tail light bulbs.

I'm about 77kgs (170 lbs) and have mine on setting #2. If your getting up to weights of 250lbs+ I would be looking at settings # 4-5.
Examples from other riders are:
196 lbs has his on #3
245lbs has his on #4
Just play around till you find your "comfort" setting.
BTW : this adjusted can normally be done by hand or a "pin" spanner as per the manual..............on the hand, an old Phillips screwdriver can work as well.

Dear Dog, I wish I was about 77kg, even 90kg would be good
Don't know about the GV250 springs, but the GV650 I run at #3 but could probably go to #4 (need C-spanner, could only get to 3 by hand, using an "old phillips screwdriver" will damage the shock-cam shroud on the 650) - I weigh in at 120kg
Not sure what the GT250 is set at - too hard to see - and they don't have the same type of setting on the mono-shock anyway.

Just got my UM V2C 250T and road it with teh defautl setting of "1" and thought it was fine but being new and not knowing what was normal, good, bad, I thought I would play with it a bit. I changed the setting to "3" and on the twisty country raods here it seemed like I had to work harder to get it to turn and the front wheel felt "heavy" for lack of a better discription. I now have it set on "2" and that feels good so I am going to put a few rides on it and get used to it there then try it on "1" again to see the difference in feel.
BTW I am 190lbs.

Thats the way to do it...carefully trying out the different settings so you know what 'feels right' for you...

I have mine set on '3', more comfort than anything else.
