Hi All,ive just installed a centrestand for my gv250 over the weekend which i got from RJ anyways i thought id clean and lube the chain so i put the bike in neutral and i rotated the rear wheel by hand,,,question is the rear wheel supposed to have some resistance when in neutral or is it supposed to be completely free spinning, can any one shed some light on this subject, would be appreciated,,,cheers

you might have a little drag from the brake, and there would be a very little resistance from the drive train but it should be easy to rotate even though it should not "spin" like a pushbike rear wheel (with a ratcheting sprocket).
Just how much resistance are we talking about?
(still waiting on the intro post mate :IDidn'tDoIt!: )

I've popped this post over in the GV250 Discussion board to get more exposure with leaving a link to this board. :okthumb:
Just edit this post and put in a little history of you and your beautiful looking GV250.
I know what it looks like...but I am bias. :woohoo:
@ I was thinking about maybe the clutch adjustment is out. I know I had a similar problem before I fitted the centre stand. Just trying to roll the bike in neutral was difficult. Maybe clutch cable needs adjustment. How is it changing gears now?
:furious: :furious: I wish I could type faster :crap:

Hi Icedog? im a bit slow to this site so i will get there eventually....the drag im talking about is about half a spin on the tyre also though it was easy enough to pull the chain by hand between the rear tyre and the centre stand,,,,the reason why im asking is that i always thought that neutral was free spinning,,,and could there be a problem with the rear brake being to much on

damn, errol moved it while I was posting, caught again :pull:
OK, all final drives (chain, belt, shaft) have some degree of friction, this is why the flywheel HP is higher than the rear-wheel HP.
Its not just the gearbox providing the resistance (there shouldn't be much from the final output shaft) but also the chain moving on the sprockets - there is actually quite a bit of friction as a chain rolls on and off a sprocket, which is why regular cleaning and lube is so important.
I would think that if you are getting a half rotation out of a quick pulldown this would not be too unreasonable but I don't know for sure not having actually tried it on the GT (must get that centre stand).

PHOTOS
How about posting your bike photos in our on site Photobucket
PHOTO GALLERY ?
If there is not a sub album already there, go ahead and add one with as many sub albums as you wish. Tag the pics with as many tags as you want to help tell a story with the pic. , it will also be picked up when anyone searches photobucket for that tag. Great way to advertise your bike, the brand and PIWYR !
There are some ''how to'' topics and login links at the top there.
THEN request your own personal MEMBER GALLERY/FORUM and we can set up a topper slideshow where you can add more pics to it as you have them. We can then also add this link to each of your posts.

which will take everyone straight to your own personal MEMBER GALLERY/FORUM where YOU control the topics and whats in them. Its your own personal space.
To set the last one up you will also need to join the
PIWYRfeatures Forum to post in and to view your own personal forum.
