Title: mpg with the um/hysong 250s
Description: looking for real world numbers

vikingpnut - May 21, 2008 07:07 AM (GMT)
:moped: Hi All, With gas prices jumping, my boss is considering getting a UM/Hysong 250 for his commute after I told him all the positive strokes everyone here gives them. He asked about the mpg, and I said I would ask. He's a sports tourer type vs cruiser. But I'm guessing they'll be about the same. Any feedback will be appreciated.

Keep the rubber side down!

There is varying opinions on MPG. From what I've read 67 MPG is an average.
Obviously riding conditions will impact on this...highway/stop-start traffic etc.

I personally haven't sat down and measured mine. In saying that I believe I would approx. get this figure though. ( or the equivalent of 28.5 KM / L) I set my trip meter when I fill up. I never let it go below 300km before I fill up again.
The fuel gauge is not that accurate. :pull:

BTW: Another variant can be the Octane level of fuel you use.

The standard recommended for the GV250 is 91 Octane RON which is equivalent to 87 Octane PON in the US and Canada

I personally use the higher Octane 98 that is approx the same as 91/92 Octane used in the US & Canada ( but can vary slightly in different states of US)

Well I get 28-30km/litre as long as I dont exceed 120km/h to much using BP Ultimate ( which is 98), if I use 95 it drops down to 25-26km/litre

I've had a low of 60 mpg and a high of 76 mpg.

Since I've added my windshield, I get between 60 to 65 mpg. I really like the windshield, it helps to break the wind. It's worth the slight loss for the added comfort. I still need to add that windshield extension.

I've yet to calculate the GT250 fuel consumption and its not run in yet anyway so will most likely change. The economy on the GV650 (long low traffic runs not exceeding about 90kph) is about 4.5 litre per 100km so I expect the 250 to be better than this.

Update: based on a single fill... GT250 (not fully run in on 95 RON fuel not exceeding 100kph on 50km low-traffic trips) got 3.8 litre/100km which is about 26km/litre ie very similar to what gw555 gets on 95.

 Thanks for the input everyone, it's appreciated. I will definitely be passing the info on. For comparisson if anyone is interested, my m50 is getting 50mpg.
Thanks again!

I calculated 4.4 l/100km for my GV 250. Pretty constant.

Thanks obxbiker. It's great to be back. I see that I have a lot of catching up to do. Just got back from a short holiday trip and I'm feeling much better. I didn't realize that I now have 500+ posts. Looks like I'll have to post some more pictures. I have added a few things since my last pictures.

Hope all is well.

Have a good one and ride safe. :okthumb: :moto:
