Hello every one my name is Pat,
I live in South Australia and work on the north side of Adelaide and live in the south so spend about 2 hours a day commuting. I have easy access to the hills roads and vast areas to explore further north, east and west.
On the first of March 2006 I bought a 2006 Hyosung Aquila GV650L (the L is for learner approved, de-rated about 60%). I paid $11,000AU for it delivered with 12 months registration and compulsory insurance, all taxes paid, 2 approved full-face helmets and the full power upgrade kit (2 new carburettor slides).
I loved the look of the bike but bought it after comparing to the offerings of Honda Yamaha Suzuki and Kawasaki in the under 810cc cruisers. I wanted a comfortable easy care machine to ride when I wanted therefore I didn't want chain drive, I don't want the hassle of lubing a chain every week and the noise annoys me.
Kawasaki was chain drive so I looked no further into that model. The GV650 was way ahead of the others on equipment, wide low profile tyres, 3 disc brakes, adjustable inverted forks, 4 valve heads, 71 horsepower great standout looks with perimeter frame and loads of chrome. I could also get the LAMS (Learner Approved Motorcycle Scheme) version and up rate it to the full 71 horses easily. I could see the LAMS version would be easier to sell when I want to sell and get my next bike. The GV650 was about $1500AU cheaper than the next nearest bike, the Yamaha XVS650 which had only about 40 horsepower, then the Honda I thought was a bit funny looking and the engine about 51 HP the Suzuki was nice to look at but the price was highest and once again the power was down on what I would expect from a 805cc engine.
Before I picked up my GV650 I joined a few other forums, one on Yahoo was a marketing tool, another was a dictatorship and one relating to the GV250 is email based and I got fed up with reading the same message over and over. But then a friend told me about Pride in what you ride! I've been here a little while and I love it.
Here is my bike as it stands now,

read more about it inside Prideinwhatyouride.com I know everyone has a place to post and read about these fantastic lesser known cruisers here.
