Title: Venox for a really small rider
Description: (small size come small hands)

Skyclad - October 30, 2007 01:54 PM (GMT)
I wanted to get some information about the KYMCO Venox for my wife. She is a complete newbie to sitting on the front seat of a bike. I have read the reviews about the Venox, and it seems like it could be a good choice. Howver, there are a few concerns that come to mind.

She needs something low and easy to handle, as she is a small woman. She stands 5' nothing. Along with the small size come small hands, so the reach to the levers is also important. Some of the articles I read mentioned the grips are kind of fat on the Venox, making the reach to the clutch and brake a bit on the long side.

Right now, we are looking at a Buell Blast for her first bike, but we are not against looking at other options. I have personal experience with the Buell, but have not ever had the chance to look closely at any KYMCO.

Any petite folks here that can let us know how the Venox worked out for them?

Thanks

the venox is a great bike, but might not be the right choice for her. The handlebars arent adjustable so it will be a stretch for her from the seat to the grip. Not to mention the long clutch pull.

might be dead on with the Buell idea. Maybe a Qlink or Johnny Pag - both have low seat height and the qlink legacy is an automatic 250cc - very popular.

Fit thinner grips, your dealer will do it for pretty cheap I imagine

i thought murs was like 5'3" or 5'4"? Sandy is 5'5" and she was stretched out on the chopper and obnoxious.

hey murs - how tall are you?

I love my Venox. When I am sitting on the bike I am not flat footed, I am on the balls of my feet. Inititially it was a little intimidating but now there is no problem at all. I just put one foot down when I am stopped at the light and let the bike lean against my leg.
As far as the clutch and brake levers, I have to reach for them. I can rest my middle finger on it barely but I have to reach to pull them in. But that has just become habit now.

My best recommendation for your wife is to take the MSF course!!!

Absolutely on the MSF saftey course. In fact, I am kinda of requiring her to take it. I will also be going through the course agin, as it has been a few years since the last time I took it.

I do thank everyone for the information on the Venox. And though it does seem like a nice bike, I am thinking that it is not the bike for her. Looks like the Blast is still on top of the list.

but you can still hang out here... have her test sit on several bikes and see what she feels the most comfortable with. Suzuki has a 125 anda 250 that are more "petite" ;) or if she likes the sportbike style - the Daelim 125 or Lifan 200 are both made for shorter legged people :)

A lot of the MSF course's have the Venox so it might be possible to check it out more then.
