Title: Fuengirola - and my bike...

Eddie - May 27, 2006 12:46 AM (GMT)
If you don't know where Fuengirola is...

I live in Fuengirola. It's located in the province of Málaga in Andalucia, southern Spain, Europe.

That's it for now

I got the bags from Richard Jordan. And the foot boards. Both are for the GV250, some modifications had to be made... Pat Sparks gave me the idea how to solve it, Thanks!

BTW How do I get rid of the melted plastic on the exhaust?

Y2J - May 27, 2006 09:59 AM (GMT)
Looks great Eddie!

Nice GPS too :) I have the TomTom Rider myself!

I'd like one of those :)
The phone I use is limited to 128MB of memory, so I can't update the maps... It's a little bit frustration when the GPS tells you to turn hard right when you're on a highway overpass or onto a one way street in the wrong direction

patsparks - May 27, 2006 11:24 AM (GMT)
That looks great Eddie and glad the footboards worked out OK. You gave me the idea really so I guess it was a colaboration of thinking. That's what I like about this forum, co-operation not dictation.

I'd lock my bike with a big lock when you know there are coppers about!

Enjoy that machine,

Aquila_The_Hun - May 27, 2006 12:44 PM (GMT)

Was it hard moving the rear signals Eddie?

No, I just drilled a couple of holes in a suitable place and moved them. No need to replace the cables.

Aquila_The_Hun - May 27, 2006 01:04 PM (GMT)
Sounds easy enough!

Eddie - May 27, 2006 01:06 PM (GMT)
Now this is really scary...

If you have a heart condition or something similar DO NOT look!

Nice bike Eddie!!

patsparks - May 27, 2006 08:28 PM (GMT)
Eddie you could try a solvent such as acetone to remove the plastic. Be careful the exhaust is cold and don't let it get on the paint. You should be able to get acetone from a plastics supplier. Don't use abrasive cleaners and remember to wax once the plastic is off. wrap your exhaust in baking paper next time!

Eddie - May 27, 2006 08:40 PM (GMT)
Thanks!

I'll wrap my daughter in baking paper next time... :D :D

pops - May 28, 2006 12:25 AM (GMT)
Thanks I to was wondering how to get it off.

Aquila_The_Hun - May 28, 2006 08:22 AM (GMT)
Well, I get it off by using moisturising lotion that tastes like chocolate... but I suppose acetone would work... :P

patsparks - May 28, 2006 12:46 PM (GMT)
Do a test on an inconspicuous part first. OK brace for it everyone. :D

Darktor - June 4, 2006 05:16 AM (GMT)
The key to removing the plastic on the exhaust is to do it when cold. I once had a plastic bag melted on the pipe, I wayted for it to cooldown and using a soft cloth. I just rub it and rub it until it came off. (I mean the melted bag) I didint have to use any lubricant or solvent. But im sure that if I had used some, the task would had been a lot smoother

Eddie - June 4, 2006 09:36 AM (GMT)
I still have'nt tried to clean the exhaust. My mother moved down from Sweden a week ago and she has baught an apartment just a couple of blocks away from me. At the moment i'm helping her with renovations so I don't have a lot of time over for the bike. Or posting here :(
But later I'll clean the exhaust, put on some neon and some chrome :D

obxbiker - June 4, 2006 03:48 PM (GMT)
Has MOM gone riding on your bike with you ?

Eddie - June 4, 2006 05:29 PM (GMT)
Not yet, but I think she will (she's 72 years old and told me she brought pants so she could try the bike!). If/when she does I'll post some photos. Biker MAMA! :D :D :D

obxbiker - June 4, 2006 05:35 PM (GMT)
THAT would be too "KOOL".. B)

Maybe you can teach her to do one of your "BURNOUTS !!! :P

Aquila_The_Hun - June 5, 2006 12:10 PM (GMT)
She's probably going to try to beat your 1/4 mile time as well!

Eddie - June 5, 2006 05:19 PM (GMT)
Since the GV650 don't have a tachometer maybe this can be of interest; ignition cutoff - 1st gear 85kmh, 2nd gear 121kmh, 3rd gear 165kmh, 4th gear 186kmh and 5th gear top speed so far 219kmh. I have just tried it going from Malaga to Fuengirola (35km). I don't have a video camera so I used my cell phone to record the sound... Doh!
And no, mom was not on the bike. :D

Eddie - June 5, 2006 06:00 PM (GMT)
The long version is a little bit boring, just a GV650 going 110-135mph for ten minutes... :ph43r: :o :D :D

I have to get a video camera...

patsparks - June 6, 2006 12:06 PM (GMT)
Eddie you are one mad bastard! B) I just listened to the full version and I was amazed :o . I was worried doing 175km/h  and that was only for a couple of minutes. That was bloody insane. All I was thinking at 175 was if I come off now it's all over. What goes through your head at 200+km/h?

Does anyone know the primary reduction ratio of the GV650?

well thankya sir, I could not find that. What page is it on?
I printed the whole thing and bound it and all. Saves taking the laptop into the shed if I need to make a few adjustments.

Aquila_The_Hun - June 6, 2006 12:47 PM (GMT)
No problem Sir! :)

Okay... it's section 8-17 Servicing Information... and as there are no page numbers(per se), acrobat tells me that it's page 206 of 222... so hopefull that's enough info to get your location!
