Title: Venox pipes @FITH GEAR CUSTOMS
Description: mock up done....WOO HOO !!!

AmishCrackDealer - December 22, 2006 06:23 PM (GMT)
I have been hard at work with our shop's Venox since it arrived here. I have ben setting my mind on a nice 2-into-1 system and I have finished teh mockup of it. After final fitment testing - I will send it off to production to get a few stamped out. These will be simple bolt on - replacements. Its the easiest and cleanest for this bike.

Just wanted to let everyone know the template is done. Hopefully wont be long now guys!!!

WOO - HOO !!! :woohoo:

Will you be offering just the one system for now or are you planing a 2 pipe slash cut (or something like what you have done for the GV650 ) ???

AmishCrackDealer - December 22, 2006 07:32 PM (GMT)
Not sure yet - depends on demand. The 2-into-1 willdefinately be the first step. I can change the muffler to a slashcut or tapered pretty easily. The duals would be a little harder to fab up a mockup system, but I am way ahead of my schedule right now - who knows.. :P

The factory system merges into one right where you will be clamping on the new system ..(right?)

It's here that the current system splits into twin upswept megaphones...

I was thinking that a 2 pipe system that would just clamp on at that point and split like the factory system but with a more traditional look that would follow along the swing arm....(?)( to leave more room also for deeper saddlebags).

But your the expert as to if this could be done..

PS...will the "2 into 1" system your doing sweep up or follow the swing arm ?
Wonder for the same reason as to leaving room for saddle bags....

Huuummmm.... could the connection point be just a switch-out part that would give the owner the choice to sweep up (sportbike look)or follow the swing arm(GV650 look)..
The same system then would give a completly different look..

AmishCrackDealer - December 22, 2006 08:36 PM (GMT)
the design I am building is a bolt on where the mufflers are now. It will follow the swingarm, not upswept. Upswept tends to catch water and lead to rust.

Making it adjustable would require a lot more engineering than I think I can do.

Maybe Red Greens can help me out - hahahaha :P

Well then an owner can just use DUCT TAPE if they want to change it... :hahaha: :hahaha: :hahaha:

The current system does rust with the upsweep...

The mock up is an ugly looking thing - Id take pictures to show you but there are so many small bends and welded together pieces that Im afriad it would scare people - hahah.

The mockup now goes to the production house to be templated. When i get it back it will be a nice smooth one-piece design taht i can photograph and start adding muffler designs to.

Good on ya Dave, 2000 posts woohoo!!!!

AmishCrackDealer - December 23, 2006 06:58 AM (GMT)
hehehe - thanks Pat - was gonna keep it low-key, but had to say something - hahah

AmishCrackDealer - December 24, 2006 03:29 AM (GMT)
Well - I started over with the Venox exhaust system. It took a little while, but I think I finally have it. A few more tweaks, but it should be good to go. I'll throw a sparemuffler I have - on it and test it out,but I'm not expecting any problems or issues.

Keep your fingers crossed!!! ;)

patsparks - December 24, 2006 04:13 AM (GMT)
They are crossed Dave, although I doubt you need them crossed.

AmishCrackDealer - December 24, 2006 04:30 AM (GMT)
Im kinda excited to see if it works and how it'll sound. :) I'll pull a sound clip when I test it - I also need a sound clip for my new drag pipes... maybe tomorrow???

patsparks - December 24, 2006 04:38 AM (GMT)
Cool, can't wait Dave.

Hope you kept some pics of the mockup Dave. It'll be nice to see what all you went through to get to the grand finale. Will you have the album ready and at the unveiling?

obxbiker - December 24, 2006 10:48 PM (GMT)
Dave has said he will have a "from start to finish" photo album to post after its all done.... :ok:

AmishCrackDealer - December 25, 2006 03:15 AM (GMT)
yeah - Im keeping track and taking pics as I go. I just finished fabbing up the new rear struts and the new pegs. I removed the handlebars, and found my new risers. I chopped the back of the frame off completely and mocked up a new flat rear fender. The new ride height is low and mean, baby!!! :)

obxbiker - December 25, 2006 05:54 PM (GMT)
Any thoughts as to the E.T.A. as to when the pipes will be avaliable for the Venox owners ??? :Gary&Jo:

AmishCrackDealer - December 25, 2006 06:05 PM (GMT)
No idea right now when they will be ready for sale. I still have soem tweaking to do and then I need to make sure my production house can replicate it. Then its sent to CBXMan for testing...

Any guess right now would be pure speculation and I dont want to guess and then have people waiting. I'll just stick with "Its actually in the process now" :)

obxbiker - December 25, 2006 07:30 PM (GMT)
Soooo... it would be safe to say:

""I'll just stick with "Its actually in the process now" ""

Sometime in 2007 !!

AmishCrackDealer - December 25, 2006 10:01 PM (GMT)
Hopefully - hahahaha

Its ready to ship to the production house now. I'll wait until after the holiday rush and then make sure everything is good to go.
:)

obxbiker - December 26, 2006 12:44 AM (GMT)
Dave is this the "connection" or a complete set of pipes ???

It would be great if this was avaliable by...April 25 - 29

Thats right everyone. I have the template made and It tested fine. I am sending it off to the prodction house to make sure they can replicate it in mass quanity for a reasonable cost. Hopefully it wont be very long now...

This new system will simply replace the stock mufflers and should clamp on in place of them. The new design is a 2-into-1 system that directs teh two exhaust pipes into a single 1 1/2" pipe and a nice muffler that follows the lines of the swingarm.

It would be great if this was avaliable by...April 25 - 29

AmishCrackDealer - December 26, 2006 06:14 PM (GMT)
well - they would still be sold thru CBXMan...

all depends on if they can reproduce it well and quickly... we'll see :)

AmishCrackDealer - December 26, 2006 11:13 PM (GMT)
