Title: Misc. first questions
Description: Can't find in owners manual
RidenSnap - December 11, 2006 01:31 PM (GMT)
Greetings all!
Just a couple of quick questions...
I've measured the handle bar and came up with 1'" diameter. Is that correct? Also is the Venox using the typical h4 headlight bulb? I can open her up but if one of you already knows..?
Is anyone using the Kymco backrest, storage rack ? If so is it well built etc. ?
BTW, I find the owners manual somewhat lacking in specs and pertinant part information. Do you?
Thanks,
Steve

I think so but Dave (Amish) could open the shop bike one if no one knows as he is replacing the entire unit. If no one answers send him a PM and I'm sure he will look into it.

The high backrest is not bad (low has been reported not good)but the styling to me could be better. (they also rust easily but I do live at the beach) KYMCOUSA has stopped importing at this time due to quality issues we have a topic on the KYMCO FEEDBACK board.Good luck trying to find one !
Dave might be developing a new one at FITH GEAR.

Very lacking I would have hoped for a updated one by now. I got mine 3 years ago...not sure where it is.

Thanks...
Doh! I looked
through the headlight lens tonight and could read the bulb information... H4 60/55w . I am going to order a headlight modulator and that will work perfectly.( I also am ordering a
Run Turn Brake module for the rear lighting.)
I need to think the backrest/rack thing through a little more. The deal is ,I am going to need a fair amount of storage for my camera gear etc. on my photo trips. However... I would like it to be portable/removeable too. I already have a "bikers friend" storage unit (
http://http://www.bikersfriend.com/index.html ) that has a rider backrest attachment. I am trying to utilize that in some way but need a firm foundation of some type to secure it to the bike. Well, I have a few months yet.
The 1/2" handlebar will work just fine for the gps mount. I am ordering one that reduces vibration to the gps. I have to use gps quite a bit on the fs roads in the wildernes areas of the NW. There are some folks missing as we speak and a family was missing a week after Thanksgiving too. :( That one made national news.
Talk to you soon,

I just got a high backrest and rack from scooterpunk. He had them in stock at his shop. Try giving him (Matt) a PM.
I found that the engine guards do a good job of keeping the bike up off the ground in spills. I got my second set from kymcobiz . They had a good selection of parts in stock as well.

Thanks for the heads up John. I sent him an email. Kymcobiz only has the short one in stock.
Rode home from work in the rain today..... Interesting concept.. :o
I had forgotten how the road visibility etc. turns to crap when raining after dark. I enjoyed drying the Nox afterward though... kinda rubbing and massaging it ya know. Hmmm that sounds a little weird. :D Gotta love the Nox!!

I have a simular product called "THE CRUSIER BAG"
and it is very secure by attaching it to the bunge posts on the side . It has 4 adjustable straps. Is yours the same ?
HERE:
"THE CRUISER BAG", storage and backrest
Love this bag as it carries a lot and the backrest is extremly comfortable. It comes on and off very easy and has a handle so you can take it with you.
RidenSnap - December 12, 2006 01:43 PM (GMT)
Yes, they are the same. I guess I assumed that the pressure of rider contact etc. would be a problem. I'll give it a try . :ok:
I really like the bikers friend too. Lots of storage and weather proof. The backrest was quite comfortable when I used it on my scooter. (It had a passenger backrest on it so I never tried securing the bf with the side straps.)
obxbiker - December 12, 2006 03:01 PM (GMT)
As you can see from the photo on the link I have it attached to my yellow venox with just the 4 point mounting straps and there is absolutly no movement...even without the backrest that I have on my black NOX.
I have the largest size they make and the bungie posts are spaced perfectly.
Dave sat on it when he was here, he can tell all as to how it fit.

Did you see the post of Johns on the spots he installed that LIGHT UP THE NIGHT ?
RidenSnap - December 12, 2006 04:03 PM (GMT)
Yep, I saw it. It's definitely in my plans the next few weeks. What a great blow by blow write up on the install. Super information... thanks John!
George,
have you been happy with your windshield performance? A lot of the riding I will be doing will be at interstate speeds and "wind fatigue" is something I hope to minimize.
Thanks for the heads up on your securing of the cruiser bag, I tried it and it is indeed stable. The bungee post spacing could not have been better . I got the largest one also. It holds all of my camera gear except the tripod and has quite a bit of room left for other stuff.

Love it but the BLADERUNNER is not the cheapest way to go as it is a short shield, but with the wing added it makes it the best set-up out there (in my opinion) The angle of the set-up slices through the wind instead of pushing into it. Good areodynamics. And the wing allows adjustments to the amount of air which is great for different seasons.

I do like how yours has the extra storage on the outside sides. I did not know of this version when I ordered mine.
:ok:
