"Heard a carol, mournful, holy,
Chanted loudly, chanted lowly,
Till her blood was frozen slowly,
And her eyes were darkened wholly,
Turn'd to tower'd Camelot.
For ere she reach'd upon the tide
The first house by the water-side,
Singing in her song she died,
The Lady of Shalott.

Under tower and balcony,
By garden-wall and gallery,
A gleaming shape she floated by,
Dead-pale between the houses high,
Silent into Camelot.
Out upon the wharfs they came,
Knight and Burgher, Lord and Dame,
And around the prow they read her name,
The Lady of Shalott.

Who is this? And what is here?
And in the lighted palace near
Died the sound of royal cheer;
And they crossed themselves for fear,
All the Knights at Camelot;
But Lancelot mused a little space
He said, 'She has a lovely face;
God in his mercy lend her grace,
The Lady of Shalott.'"
(Excerpt from the poem Lady of Shalott)

Smoky green pools blinked rapidly, trying to shield themselves from the wisps of pale golden mane and forelock that fluttered into and around them. Feathered hooves remained planted firmly into the dead earth, as I finally closed my smoky pools and allowed my frustration to be seep away as the distance echoing of my song dissipate. I could feel my feathers that graced my short pillars shift with it, and my mane flicker in the breezing wind; as my thick tail simply danced around my short, yet refined, pillars and against my dark gray splotched rump.

I sighed heavily as the breeze died down to a bearable whisper, though my smoky pools remained shut as the breeze continued to play with my pale golden curls of a mane; daintily lifting them, twisting them in the breeze like the delicate touches of a lover. A lover that had yet to exist for me. My pools snap open and I grimace at the thought. Yes, I was young, but I was mature for my age.

And damn it, I was determined to find myself someone. I wasn't going to turn into a hateful spinster, no way in Hell. Hell would have to freeze over before I seriously thought about it. It wouldn't be hard for me, atleast I thought it wouldn't, since I knew I was decently attractive. I was a rare hue for Gypsy Vanners, especially pure blooded ones like myself. And the smoky green hues I inherited from my mother was just another added rarity. Not to mention I had a pretty quick mind, and a decent wit when it came to verbal fights.

What stallion didn't want that?

-FIN?-

A scent I knew all too well. Mare.
I was used to the scent by now, it swooped into my nostrils and expanded further. But the one thing I had yet to experience was the scent in my lands.
I liked the sound of that. My lands. I was king, ruler, supreme. But I wouldn't let it touch my ego. At least for now.

Hooves touched the ground as I carried myself to the newcomer. I hoped that she was beautiful, and I hoped that she wasn't anything I disliked. There was a long list, afterall. I turned the corner, and there!

My, was she beautiful. I had the urge, and let it pass. As a leader, I wanted equines to have as much respect for me as posible, and resorting to old tactics was not the way to do it.
I advanced the mare, looked her over with careful scrutiny. She was thickly built, but not in a way that made her any less feminine. I admired her coat and locks, how well-kept she was for the liked of us in the wild. Besides that, she had an air of disobedience in her, of wanting. I liked that. A lot.
"Helloo doll." I drawled slightly, keeping a tight smirk on my kissers.
I had stopped before her, pale hooves resting on the ground.
"How can I help you?"

His approach greeted my splotched audda, as my smoky pools drank in the ruins. I could feel the loss here, which was leaving a melancholy aura that was making me fidgety. Smoky pools grazed the ruins, until the approaching sounds of hooves was finally connected to the dark golden stallion. I watched him, with a carefully guarded expression, as he made his approach. It was obvious he was the King here, and probably alone, because there were no other sounds besides the faint whisper of me exhaling and inhaling and his approach.

Audials flickered back briefly as he spoke, before flickering forward to listen to his drawl. I had to be on my best behavior right now; or, as best as I could.
"Greetings, m'lord," I replied serenely, the mix of German and Hindi accents made my voice, despite its serenity, husky. "I am Kali Raj - and I've come seeking a home."

Oh, my. You just know how to tease me, don't you honey?
I wanted to say this out loud, but I supposed I could show more respect to the femme.
What the hell am I talking about?
She tramped upon my lands.
Really, it was a reasonable request, but my mind was so twisted up I could barely tell left from right. It was like a momentary mind seizure.

"Greetings, m'lord,"
A good- no, excellent- start. Recognizing my power was going to be routine around here.
"I am Kali Raj-"
"Beautiful..." I muttered lowly, audda strained toward the splotched mare as she continued to gab.

"and I've come seeking a home."
Well. I guess that was one possibility in the back of my head, the most likely, but I still didn't know quite what to say. I didn't want to look stupid or arrogant, if I hadn't already.
"Any particular reason I should accept you into my barren haven?" My tone wasn't accusatory, only curious. My gaze still bore into her hide, slipping over her curves.

"Well, I suppose not," I replied nonchalantly; hearing his curiosity. I was doomed to being a harem mare, back home, so I had a few tricks up my sleeve - it was necessary to have a few, if you wanted to stay a head of the other mares that would vie for their master's attention. My mother had condemned me to becoming one of the Prince's harem mistresses, because I had a pretty face and a Siren's voice. Forget the fact I was bloody intelligent, almost a genius compared to the airheads that were already apart of the Prince's harem.
"But, I can be pretty good company, assuming it's just you right now."
I left the comment open for him to translate, not really worried about how he might take it, as smoky pools watched his gaze scrutinize my frame.

I took her words into consideration, tilting my head slightly from left to right, weighing the pros and cons of the situation. She was beautiful, yes, that we'd established quite a few times. but I had no idea her motives once inside my land. It's not like I couldn't stop her if she did, though...
"Well. Bring no trouble to the lands." I said bluntly, glazing over her neck to eventually meet her gaze. Golden hues observed her facade in silence.

"By the way, Kali," I emphasized her name, in recognition of her captivity of sorts, "The name's Storm. Lightning Storm."

OoC| Just imagine him saying it with his dashing-good looks in a James Bond sort of way. xD

I refrained from giggling like some airheaded mare, though my amusement was evident through the smirk on my dark grey maw and the laughter in my smoky pools. However, I know it's not wise to laugh in front of the Ruler, or anyone High ranked, unless they're laughing with you.
"Of course, Storm," I replied like the good-mare attitude I'd adopted for the moment, bowing my tiara slightly once more.

[x] Thinking about Storm in that way made me giggle. xD [/x]

I slowly and easily let a smirk slide to my mug. I never smiled, and even this was a lot for my normally blank expressions. It was just her overall expressions and personality that made Kali likable to me. Not many acheived that position.
I saw the laughter in her eyes, almost lashed out. Resisted. I had to stop that.

"Watch your step." I growled, turning my head slightly to observe the land in which I had come, facial expressions erased.
"It might just be the two of us now, but I can't guarantee what does and does not reside here."
I turned back, smirking once again with pleasure.
"Welcome, to the Ruins." I said coyly, giving her one last glance over with liquid golds.

OoC| With that, we can begin conversing in the Herd topic.
