I wandered among the plants, suspicously nosing every green life form. I picked up my pale ivor hooves to avoid the scuttling creatures beneath me. This was a new experience for me. I had only lived in sunny meadows and the like, with plentiful resources. Diversity roamed no further than coat colors, much unlike this place.
Here, I encountered sizes, colors, alliances, relationships, and even breeds. Every equine looked different, and it had scraed me for a while.

I was young, naive, uncaring, innocent. I had been in these lands for just over a year, and leaving home had hardened me.
I stopped, sand swirling just above my hooves for a moment. I stood beneath a cluster of trees, hoping for some excitment.
Flecked hide twitched at every pest, and I tried to keep them away. My coat always drew attention, and as anyone could tell, I was a little obsessed. I felt that color told a lot about anyone's personality, even if only genetics determied it.

I snorted, war air expelled from my nostrls. I needed something to live for, somebody to look forward to waking up to. I needed more than friendship.
