Title: Sorry, It's My Turn To Rule.
Description: Zycian- Claimance
sassaboo - February 24, 2008 09:20 PM (GMT)
I was fed up of not finding the right home for Dark Dancer and myself, traveling around to wherever we could go. I didn't want to stay in a dark herd, nor in a light herd. Our best luck was the neutral lands, and the Victorian Shores were the best place available. But that brute that was the former leader didn't even here us out before turning us away. Though as I approached the land once more, all was quiet. Stale scents of the former leader and his herd were signs of his dissappearance long ago.
A grin came to my muzzle as I stopped, flicking my tassle once as I raised my crown. Now that the leader was gone, it was quite simple to take advantage of this beautiful piece of land. To assure my dominance, I cried out my claimance of the lands. I pawed at trees and earth where I could, leaving my scent strongly to show I was not going to go away this time. This were going to change, now that I am leader.
I was quite pleased with myself, and I was sure I would take much better pride over these lands than I had the Savannah. Dark maroon eyes searched about for the stunning figure of Dark Dancer, wherever she was. I had but a question or two for her, and for the moment, I finally had enough confidence to ask them.
---Finished, Short, but finished---

The mahogany fatale stepped across the pebbly terrain, russet horns flicking to each side, though there was barely a whisper of wind to be heard. Smoky flints trod upon the land carefully, as if each hoof-covering of ground hid a landmine, or a pothole, concealed by the rock and soil. Obsidian nares flared, drawing in the stale scents of the former king, long gone. Ivories were bared as she though of the brute. Barely talking to them and forcing them to leave. A kindly looking stallion and mare? And a femme, of all things? Ha! He should have at least had some sense to know that she might become his mate, if he stole her. But first he'd have to get past Zycian.
Muddy hues looked up to the jett hessian, brown flank touching his own occasionally, as they walked side by side. Smile flickered across charred maw as he bellowed out his claimance. Good. Finally, they'd have a herd of their own, and very few others in sight to challenge for it. And if they did, and succeeded, she'd leave with Zy. Even if the brute threateded her, or forced her, or anything. She'd leave. Kill the foal somehow. She just wanted to be with him. And if she was queen, then she'd try even harder to be with him, if it was even possible. Tiara rested against his great shoulder for a heartbeat, a small sigh escaping the muzzle of Dancer; then it was lifted, the trance broken.
"This is much better, don't you agree?" she asked, pools glinting in the sunlight. "Not just a huge field of dried grass and filthy cats. And a lake, for spring and summer. Our own little place to cool down. It's lovely." She was surprised at the words coming from her own mouth. At the Savannah, she hadn't talked like that, now she was. Maybe the journey had made her older, somehow. Maybe it was just her. Tell the truth, she liked it.
{~ *gasp* Questions...... *evil grin* ~}

I gave a nod in response to her comments, a smile flickering on my muzzle as she touched my shoulder. Indeed, this place was much better than any other land I could rule any time soon. Maroon eyes settled upon Dancer, taking in every feature that I had grown to memorize over time. "Yes, it's alright. But I've been having thoughts on how to make it perfect." I started, before growing nervous all of a sudden.
I hoped I wasn't too late with my questions, hoping I wasn't stuck in the 'just a friend' or 'like a brother' stages. "Why it's taken me years to say this, I don't know. But I want it to be known before your torn away from me again..." I must've looked liked a fool as I glanced to the ground for a couple seconds, before bringing my gaze back up to lock with hers. "I love you, Dancer. Will you be the Queen of these lands? As my mate?" In my mind I made a vow to myself, if the goddess before me accepted, I would never form a harem over her.

A smile wreathed the vixen's face as her love spoke. "Of course, silly," she said, midnight banner swishing his hindquarters, even though they were slightly taller than hers. He'd never been "just a friend" to her. They had been friends, but since they'd followed each other, she'd grown to love him. And now, before she'd known him, she'd never wanted a foal of her own. But now, since he would take care of her, and she was above almost all others, she felt secure, that if he popped the question, she could say yes. Perhaps spring was getting to her. But she was certain that that's how she felt, that she'd be willing to do anything for him. "What would make you think I would say no?" she asked, voice flowing out coyly, happiness clearly there.

One of the largest possible grins came to my muzzle, a rush of happiness and pride filled me. I could've danced away like a fool right now, but fortunately I still had enough calmness to keep all four hooves fimly upon the ground. Her question stumped me though for about a second or two, chuckling as I answered her. "Because I figured someone like you could do a lot better than someone like me." Granted she could, but it wasn't like I would let anyone get through me first. Without a doubt I would willingly kill for this mare and her safety.

Skull and crane shook, long shadowy braids flipping with the motion, tapping against the wench's chocolatey nape. The action was in play, a laughing shake, and voice accompanied, the mare using two of the five senses bestowed on her mind. "Well then, let's get on with it. It wouldn't be too good if newcomers started arriving before we'd even found out what was in our land." Cranium swung to her mate, a smile wreathing his jett face. Muzzle twitched ahead of the two, in a follow me gesture. She stepped forward, daggers treading as softly as they had when she'd arrived, sometimes tapping the earth twice with the same foot. Maw bent low, snuffling the ground, inspecting each step of this new terrain. Unfeeling hooves weren't the best tools for detailed exploration. Head went up as she passed beneath trees, leaving the lake's gently lapping waters, banner swirling behind her, beckoning to Zycian to come.

I stood there, dumbfounded, for a couple seconds as I watched her waltz away. After all I just said to her, and hardly a response but to follow her. A little confused, I followed her nonetheless. As she studied every inch of the land around her, memorizing it until it was burned into her memory, I wasn't quite doing the same. I walked partially behind her, partially beside her at a distance. I'd lower my muzzle to sniff something that would catch my interest, though the most of the time I would be watching her. Hey, I'm a stallion. Can you blame me? Didn't think so... "Might be a while till a herd is actually formed, anything to do with other equines is old, aside from us."
Horsegirl - March 3, 2008 02:15 AM (GMT)
Acute thorns caught the sadness in her love's voice as she turned back to look at him. "I didn't mean it like that, Zycian," she said quietly, voice murmuring at a pitch just above the volume of the noise around them. She worked her way back to where the brute stood. "I thought you had meant it as a joke, not something serious. I'm sorry." Banner flicked around as it drove the flies from her hindquarters. "And you do have a point there. I was probably a bit obsessed at that moment. But you'll have to start going around, letting others know that the Shores have a new King. Claiming equines to live here, that stuff."
sassaboo - March 5, 2008 01:33 AM (GMT)
I was a little surprised that she would think I had meant it as a joke, insulted that she thought I would even joke about such a thing. Letting it go, I raised my brow at her claiming equines comment. "You actually want me to go and claim other equines?" That surprised me even more if that was what she was suggesting. I couldn't really imagine myself leaving to bring back another mare. Granted the mare would be of slightly lower rank than Dark Dancer, but it was still odd to think about it.
Horsegirl - March 17, 2008 11:23 PM (GMT)
"No, no....." No, that wasn't what she'd meant! Not that way! She almost felt like crying. She'd ruined everything. They were there, all happy and all, then she had to go and laugh and mess it all up! It was her fault! Hers! How could she have been so stupid? "I just.....I never meant it like that. I'm sorry, I'm so sorry." Head was lowered slightly, banner as well, entire bod sagging. "Is it even possible to forget about it now?" she whispered, not entirely to herself.
sassaboo - March 18, 2008 09:40 PM (GMT)
I gave a sigh as I heard her words, watching her slouch. Reaching towards her muzzle with my own, I smiled in hopes to cheer her up. "Yes, it's not a problem. You just confused me for a little while, that's all..." I chuckled, I suppose it was my own fault for getting myself confused in the first place. Maybe I just over-thought things sometimes...
Horsegirl - March 21, 2008 04:35 PM (GMT)
A smile played at her features as Zycian nuzzled her. "I suppose I can get a little confusing sometimes," she said, a chuckle escaping her maw. "So, shall we continue as we were before this whole thing happened? Say, perhaps, with another small little change in numbers?" Oh, no, she'd let it slip! Since they'd found their new home, she'd been expecting Zy to ask for a foal, but now she'd done it! She just felt comfortable with him, and now that they had found a permanent home, she was ready to welcome another into their lives. She wasn't sure how he would respond, being he was a stallion. She'd just have to see how it played out.
sassaboo - March 21, 2008 06:06 PM (GMT)
Just the very change in the tone of her voice had ideas run through my mind, but the choice of words caused a grin to spread on my muzzle. She never actually mentioned a foal, but I knew it was exactly what she was talking about. The thought of a foal of our own kept the grin on my muzzle. Especially after all we had been through in the past years, and I was glad to know that it was me she wanted a foal with. Not one of thos many stallions I'm sure she had met during the time we were apart. "Well...There is one way to do that...But we'd have to take a little vacation to a different land..."" I spoke calmly, though on the inside I wanted to race Dark Dancer to the Willow Grove.
Horsegirl - March 21, 2008 06:27 PM (GMT)
"Then I suppose it is the one we shall take." The smile stayed with his response, as he grinned. She could tell he was very much pleased. All the time on her journey, she'd had so many brutes trying to cajole her into giving them a son or daughter, but she'd always done something to stop it. Either running away, or pinning her tail forcefully, or letting them know by violence that no, she was not up for grabs, nor would she ever be. But now she was ready, and with one that she could trust to be a father, not just a sire. "Let's go, then."
sassaboo - March 21, 2008 06:31 PM (GMT)
(( - To the Willow Grove!- It's about time for Zy and DD, lol...))
Horsegirl - March 29, 2008 08:49 PM (GMT)
The mudded femme made her way carefully over the stones, banner switching occasionally with irritation. Her barrel was already starting to swell, and that "motherly glow" was clearly there. She would snort every few steps, as she slipped over the rocky ground. When she and Zy had come, she'd maneuvered the terrain perfectly; now, with a new life inside her, it was as if she was a young filly again, just learning how to move her long pillars. She paused for a moment, letting out a low whinny for the father of her child, then continued on, finally letting out a sigh when she had reached solid ground.

It wasn't long before I reached Dark Dancer, walking beside her to help her balance if she needed it. I was excited, though I was wary of Dark Dancer. I knew very well that expectant mothers could have mood swings from hell. "Are you alright?" I asked, hoping she wouldn't end up snapping at him for asking a simple question. If she did, I knew that it was mostly hormones, annoying little buggers.
(( x.x Sorry, it's been so difficult to find muse for charries nowadays...))
Horsegirl - April 9, 2008 12:57 AM (GMT)
Dancer was tempted to lay her ears back and snap at her mate, but she somehow fought back the urge, instead giving him a strained smile. He was only trying to help. "Of course I am, silly," she replied. She tilted, leaning slightly on the brute, resting for a moment. "I don't understand how some mares can stand being bred year after year," she muttered, partly to herself. Then, louder, "At least this shows that our foal will be strong," as her side twitched, and a hind pillar came up to swipe at her bod. At least the flies were leaving, though she was unsure of how she'd stand the winter. She was already becoming slightly clumsy, which was evident as her hind hoof missed her barrel, swinging by without even a tap.
sassaboo - April 13, 2008 02:59 AM (GMT)
I gave a smile, I couldn't lie. Sometimes it was a little funny to see her waddle about, in a cute way, of course. "Without a doubt. With your strength, and my beauty, why wouldn't be the best?" I chuckled, my tone half sarcastic at the 'my beauty' comment.
((x.x I'll try to make my posts longer after this))
Horsegirl - April 21, 2008 01:29 AM (GMT)
A chuckle escaped the obsidian maw at Zycian's comment. She sidled up to her mate, enlarged barrel stopping her chest at about half a foot from him. "You got that part wrong, boy," she replied. "We're both strong and beautiful. Only with you it's more handsome than pretty." Giggling snort erupted from extended nares at her comment. She watched the leaves fall from the trees nearby. Gold and red, orange and brown. As she watched, her mind strayed to her foal. What color would it be? A colt or filly? Would it be all right? But then she looked to the black brute beside her, and she knew that she'd be okay. She was the Alphess, with her mate's child on the way. Her life was going well.
{~ We should probably move this to the main herd topic. My mistake. ~}
