I was exhausted as I reached the border of the plains. My head was hung so low that I was worried that my knees would start knocking into my jaw. My ears were held back against my skull as my weary, bleak eyes watched the two colts that walked beside me. We had been traveling for a very long time now, barely making it out of our old home alive. In fact, I had no reason to live, now, except to watch after these two boys, so I watched them with a hard, parental eye.

Pelops was the first one to break the eerie silence. "Come on!" he muttered, nipping his brother's shoulder. "Let's play

"Shove off!" Teledamus replied, pushing him away and running to hide behind his mother's large, white bodice.

I snorted, angered at the boys' rowdiness. "Cut it out!" I snapped, glaring at Pelops and Teledamus.

"Wasn't me!" Teledamus sneered, glaring at his brother.

Pelops growled offensively and glared at his brother. "Shut up, Tel!" he said. "You don't have to rat me out like a little snitch!"

Teledamus stuck his tongue out and then hid once more behind me.

"I said knock it off!" I snarled, glaring from one to the other. "Do you like wandering around like this? Well, if you don't behave yourselves then we won't be accepted into this herd and we'll have to go traveling again."

"Yes, mama," the both muttered, hanging their heads as well, now.

I hated to reprimand my boys, but it was the only way to make them behave. I could only imagine what they would grow up to be! Pel already looked more like his father than anything, and it broke my heart everytime that I looked his way. I really hoped that this alpha would accept us. If we had to keep wandering, I don't know how much longer I would last.

I was just returning from my trip to Serenity Stream, alone. Though, I felt like a completely new stallion. Felt more confident in speaking to others and being more charming. Except, I was bummed that I came home empty handed. My dun coat was still lightly coated in sweat as I walked along the plains to get back to the herd. I had a feeling that something had gone wrong and intruders where here. My sense kicked in and I forgot all about my encounter with Raven for the moment.

My bright green eyes searched about. Ears flicked forward as a stern voice spoke out. Sounded like a mother's voice. Stopping my thick body, I looked around. Lips in a thin line, I finally spotted the creme bodice of a mare. Near her I saw two small foals. Ears pinned against my skull as I let my head raise higher. A mother and two foals. I looked at them closer as I moved toward them. My muscles tensed, these new comers had a very dismal air about them. Frowning, I saw how exhausted and sad the mare looked. I felt bad for her and moved a little faster. I wasn't Alpha, but it seemed Spirit Dancer wasn't going to appear any time soon.

Stopping close to the mare, I looked her over and then her foals. "Hello dear, you're looking a little tired." I spoke with my masculine voice, green eyes sparkling with worry. "I'm Fate, one of the herd members. The Alphaess is a little busy with her own sons at the moment." I nodded my head lightly as I kept an ear and eye on the two colts. They seemed to be the kind of twins that loved to bicker with each other because they were so alike. I really started to feel bad for her. Traveling alone with two colts did not seem like fun.

It'd been a few months since the birth of my twin sons, and several months since my arrival to Royalty. Between Spring and now, I'd become a Queen and a mother of two at a young age. I was probably doomed from the start, anyways.

Copper splashes stand out vibrantly against the white of my body and the green grass, as pale gold and fiery auburn curls flicker in the Fall breeze. Soon the grass would die, and we'd have to struggle through Winter. But what land didn't? Fierce blue eyes survey the flat sections of Avalon quietly from a higher hill, with Koalvolt snoozing at my hooves. I had my doubts to where Tyhraone was, but I knew he wouldn't leave. He was probably hiding within the thicker parts of the grasses, like usual.

My tassels snap as I flick them in brief frustration. Those brief moments were common as of late, because I had yet gathered atleast two members outside of my lineage. It was only Kismet, Luke, my sons and myself, and I was growing to be increasingly impatient with the outside world. Had Avalon gone unnoticed? While other lands flourish and foals are brought into the world, Avalon silently withered. It made me think I'd brought my doomed fate with me whenever I'd left my homeland over a year ago.

Until copper audda flicker forward, as fierce blue hues catch something within the distance. Movement, which disturbs me to a degree. Rousting my son, I take a lofty trot down the hill towards the movement - only to find a mare and two colts. I stop several paces away, copper audda flicker back briefly as I feel Koalvolt's own black-and-white frame brush by my back legs, so that he could duck underneath my stomach.

"Welcome to the Plains. I'm Spirit Dancer, Queen of Avalon. What brings you here?" I ask, the command in my question couldn't be ignored. I was half-glad that I couldn't detect the quivering in my voice anymore - something I'd worked on since the arrival of several herd members.

My ears twitched nervously as the stallion approached us. I wasn't used to strange stallions-especially one so large. But there was something about this particular equine. He seemed genuinely sweet, and his bright green eyes were inviting and comforting. Oh, how I wanted to be comforted! But I wouldn't let myself fall into a safe security zone just yet. I eyed him - but not too unkindly. "Yes, I am quite exhausted," I managed to agree. "We've been traveling for a while now . . ." Pel and Tel hid behind my small white bodice, but they looked around me to inspect the stallion. I guess you could say that they weren't used to other equines just yet.

"Who do you think that is?" Pel whispered curiously.

"He doesn't seem too bad . . ." Tel noticed, looking up at the humongous stallion.

Suddenly we were joined by the alphess. I bowed my head as regally as I could manage in my weakened state. "Hello, good Lady Spirit Dancer," I said. "My name is Cassandra, and these are my two sons - Pelops and Teledamus." I reached my head around and nudged them. "Well, go on, boys," I told them. "Introduce yourselves."

The two foals found their way out from behind their mother, grumbling the whole way. Pel was the first one to speak. "Are you seriously the alphess?" he asked. "I thought that all lands had to be ruled by a stallion."

I nipped at him scoldingly. "Mind your manners!" I reminded him. Well, what's left of them.

[x] Coming, possibly. SD's rule is up in the air because I'm starting to doubt she'll ever get a mate. [/x]
