A chestnut mare moved slowly into the lands, every step giving her pain. She knew what was coming, and she was filled with different thoughts. She was so excited about having her first foal, yet couldn't wait to get this over with. There was so much she didn't know about the foal, and she couldn't wait to see the gender, what it looked like...and what she and Cal would name it.

Rose Bud came to a sudden halt and gently dropped to the ground. She knew she was then in labour, and just wanted Calamazoo to be there with her. She knew she could always count on him, and that he'd usually be there when she needed him. He'll be here in a few minutes... she guessed, anger beginning to fill up inside her.

The alpha of the deserts followed his lovely mare. His other mate, Belle, had just given birth to twins - both of them his own - and he was excited to see what lay in store for Rose Bud. "My beautiful darling," he cooed as she lay back and went into labor. "I'm right here, you'll be alright. But it's time to push, now, love." He could see that she was in pain, and he wished more than ever that he could make it all just go away, but he knew that the only thing he could do now was comfort her and help her along.

I smiled for a moment as Cal arrived, but I was suddenly taken over by pain as I began to push. I just knew what to do, even though I was young and a first time mother, I knew what I had to do to get this foal out of me. I let out a soft cry of pain as the head of the foal slipped out, and I began pushing again. In a few minutes, I realised that I was laying next to an adorable chestnut filly, who was just laying there for a moment.

I was exhausted after the whole thing, so I laid my head down on the ground and let out a sigh of pain. I never knew how hard it would actually be once I was actually in labour. I didn't know what to expect with my first foal. I looked up at Cal and forced a smile. "A filly," she said, still smiling.

Cal smiled down at her. "Another beautiful baby girl," he muttered, looking upon his second born daughter. She was beatiful, and he couldn't love her more. "She's wonderful, Rose," he said. "Absolutely wonderful. What shall we name her?"

abbydoodle96 - February 6, 2008 12:29 AM (GMT)
I smiled as I looked from Cal to our new daughter, an adorable little girl that I already loved. I looked at Cal with a smile on my face, as I couldn't wait to tell him my name idea. "I was thinking..." I began. "A flower name like mine. I was thinking maybe Marigold, Dandelion, Dahlia, Tiger Lilly." I wanted to know what Cal thought of those names, and if he had any other name ideas that he wanted to share with me.

W Smack - February 7, 2008 09:14 PM (GMT)
"Tiger Lilly!" Cal exclaimed. "I like that one! And I think it suits her. Well, what do you think, little girl? Do you like that for your name?" He smiled down at his mate and his newest daughter. He loved the filly immidiately as well. "Belle, Brego and Calli will be so excited to meet you, little one!" he cooed to the small filly.

abbydoodle96 - February 7, 2008 09:58 PM (GMT)
"Tiger Lilly," Rose said, a smile spread across her face. That was to be the new filly's name, probably to be called Lilly for short. She looked down at her daughter before turning back to look in front of her. She closed her eyes and laid her head down, slowly drifting off to sleep.

The tiny chestnut filly, who was laying next to her mother, looked up at her father. She snorted and took a look around at the strange place, before looking back up at the stallion. She nodded to him, as if to tell him that she liked her new name; Tiger Lilly. She put her front legs out in front of her and tried to push herself off of the ground and stand, but failed and fell back down to the ground. She tried again, but the same happened. She gave up and snuggled closer to her mother, who was then fast asleep.

Cal smiled down at the two lovely women before him. He couldn't be happier, but he did have to tear his mind away from them for a second. He perked his ears to the horizon and scanned the terrain. He wondered if Belle was doing ok with the twins. It was hard to take care of two sometimes.
However, he was distracted from thinking of the others as he looked once more upon his newest daughter. He was so excited to see that there was to be another heiress to the herd. "Come on, little Lilly," he murmured to the filly. "Aren't you going to stand for me? I know you can do it, dearest."

abbydoodle96 - February 7, 2008 10:12 PM (GMT)
Tiger Lilly looked up at her father and began to try standing again. She fell again, but tried again after that one, and was able to stand. She smiled and looked over at her father, hoping for him to be proud that she had finally stood. She opened her mouth as if she was going to speak, but she closed it again without a word. She carefully and slowly walked over to her father and gave his leg a nuzzle, because that was all that she could reach. She suddenly fell again, but the next time she tried to stand, it was easy for her to stand. She smiled as she looked up at her father.

"Good," Cal muttered as his daughter stood beside him. "You're so good!" He smiled down at her proudly. As she fell again, he leaned down to help her up once more. "There you go," he muttered as she steadied out. "Easy, now."

abbydoodle96 - February 7, 2008 10:23 PM (GMT)
Lilly smiled as her father helped her up. "D...da," she managed to say, trying to say Daddy, but only able to say a little bit of it. She whinnied and looked behind her at her sleeping mother, and said,"Ma." Again, she was trying to say Mommy, but could only let out a little of it. She was only a foal anyways, and could only say little things. With help from her parents, she'd learn to talk in no time, and be able to play with the other foals who could probably already talk a little bit.

W Smack - February 7, 2008 10:29 PM (GMT)
"Yes, that's right," Cal incouraged her. "Dad and mom. My, you'll be speaking before we know it! What a smart little girl." He nuzzled her softly and then glanced down towards Rose. "When do you think mommy will be waking up? You're hungry, I'm sure."
He nuzzled Rose softly as well, resting his muzzle on her soft stomach. He knew how tired she must be. He wondered how so many mares went through that excruciating pain to bring new life into the world.

abbydoodle96 - February 7, 2008 11:56 PM (GMT)
Lilly smiled and nodded, while carefully and slowly walking back over to her mother's side, giving her a soft nudge on the neck. She just realized that she actually was hungry, and wanted her mom to get up to feed her. She looked over at her father and managed to say,"Ma sleep." She was proud of herself for talking, so she looked back at her mom and gave her another nudge.

Feeling a couple nudges on her neck, Rose Bud opened her eyes and yawned. She was very tired after giving birth to her first foal, that she had fallen asleep when she should've fed her filly. She stood up and grunted, wanting to lay back down. She let the filly nurse from her for a few minutes, then laid back down once Lilly had finished nursing. Rose laid back down on the ground, but didn't fall back asleep. She looked up at Cal and smiled. "She's great," she said, still smiling.

W Smack - February 8, 2008 12:06 AM (GMT)
"She's wonderful," Cal agreed. "And smart, too! Look how much she can talk already!" He smiled proudly upon Lilly, but then turned his gaze once more to Rose. "Are you ok?" he asked, his voice low and his eyes soft. "I know childbirth is tiring, but you look spent. You don't think we'll be able to get back to the herd any time soon, do you?"

abbydoodle96 - February 8, 2008 12:11 AM (GMT)
Rose looked at Cal and yawned. "I'm fine," she said quickly, although she was really tired and really didn't feel like moving. "Just tired. And...you can go back and help Belle with the twins. I need to rest for a while." She snorted and laid her head back down on the ground, where Lilly was laying down next to her. She wondered how Belle was doing with Brego and Calli. She hoped she was doing fine with them, but Rose knew just how much Cal wanted to get back to see his other to foals.

W Smack - February 8, 2008 09:10 PM (GMT)
"Nonesense!" Cal cried. "I'm not going anywhere without you and little Lilly! I waited with Belle when she had her foals, and I'll do the same with you. We're going back together. I'm sure Belle is fine, and if she's not, she'd find a way to let me know." He nuzzled Rose softly. "You and Lilly rest as long as you need," he assured her. A light breeze rustled past them and he smiled. Then he turned to Tiger Lilly and said, "You'd better not get used to this nice weather, little one. It's much hotter at home. That is one of my old worries: how the young children would grow in such a hot, desolate place. But Brego and Calli seem to be doing fine, so I'm sure you can, too."

abbydoodle96 - February 8, 2008 11:49 PM (GMT)
Rose reached her head up and nuzzled Cal at the first place she could reach from laying down, and that was at the knee. She closed her eyes and rested, but didn't sleep. She was awake and would get up if Tiger Lilly needed to nurse again, or if something happened, but she was sure nothing would.

The chestnut filly stood up from laying down next to her mother, and walked over to her father, head up, thinking she was now a pro at walking from parent to parent. Lilly nodded to her father as he spoke to her, and she nipped at his legs playfully. She sneezed and fell to the ground, but whinnied playfully as she stood back up. She looked up at her father, and smiled. "Da," she said, and held her head up high again, proud of herself.

Cal snorted playfully and nipped at his daughter's small whisk of a tail as she turned her back to him. When she fell, he stood back and let her stand herself back up - a lesson that he thought was important for the strong, young filly. Once she was back on her feet again and talking once more he chuckled and lipped playfully at her ears. He bobbed his head and trotted a circle around her, reaching out his long neck and poking her every once and a while.

abbydoodle96 - February 9, 2008 02:57 AM (GMT)
Lilly giggled a bit as he began poke her every once in a while. She let a whinny and and nuzzled her father's leg. She reared up on her two back legs, but fell backwords down to the soft ground. She poked her head up and smiled, showing that it didn't hurt much. She got back to her hooves and tried to rear on her two back legs again, this time succeeding in not falling. She whinnied as she came back down on all fours, looking proud of herself. She nipped at his legs again the poked them with a hoof. She seemed to be a very sweet, adorable, active little filly, and that was just what her mother had wanted.

Cal half-reared as well when Lilly began to nip at his legs once more. He tossed his head and whinnied playfully. He was so proud of her - all of his children had been born strong, healthy, and intelligent. Well, he couldn't quite say that for Brego. He did seem a bit sickly lately . . .
But he didn't think of that. He was so satisfied simply playing around with his newest daughter and watching her growing and learning. "You're learning so fast!" he mused as he watched his daughter rear up before him. "I can't wait for you to see your new home and your new family."

abbydoodle96 - February 9, 2008 01:50 PM (GMT)
A few minutes later, Rose was nudged again by her daughter, so she awoke and stood up, yawning, and letting her newest daughter have a small nurse. Rose looked over at Cal and gave him a nuzzle. "I think we can go back now," she said, smiling. She was still a bit tired, for some reason, but really wanted to get back to the herd so Lilly could meet everyone else, and they could see how Belle was doing with the twins. "Can't wait for Lilly to make friends with the others!" she said.

Lilly looked over at her mom, and had no idea what she was talking about. 'Go back now' was what she was really wondering about. Go back where? She looked up at her mother and smiled, then walked over to her father. She had gotten use to this place, and now she'd have to get used to somewhere else? She didn't know about that, but she was sure she'd like the new place.

W Smack - February 9, 2008 01:56 PM (GMT)
Cal returned Rose's nuzzle. "Are you sure?" he asked, looking her up and down with his soft, dark brown eyes. "You still look weak, but if you think you're ready, we'll go."
He grinned down to Lilly. "We're going to go home, Lilly! You're going to have so much fun there!" He knew that Brego, Calli and hopefully Belle were going to love her!

abbydoodle96 - February 9, 2008 02:00 PM (GMT)
"I'll make it," Rose said. "I just really want to get back." She felt really weak and tired, and had a little trouble standing, but she wanted to get back to the deserts so bad that she was sure she'd be ok enough to get there. She looked down at her little daughter, and gave her a nuzzle. She loved her new active, sweet, adorable little daughter, Lilly, and was glad that she didn't feel the same way that she did.

Tiger Lilly smiled at the word 'home'. She thought that this was home, but she wanted to go exploring new places and things like that, that she didn't care where she went. She was just a newborn and didn't know what ws out in the world, but she really wanted to know.

W Smack - February 9, 2008 02:06 PM (GMT)
"Alright," Cal agreed. "Well, if you're sure." He nudged Tiger Lilly playfully and mutterd, "Follow us, little one. We'll be home before you know it!" He nuzzled Rose, leveling himself at her side so that if she needed support he would be there for her. "Well, we better get on our way." And with that, he started back towards the deserts.
