Title: The Herd

((OOC: Post here once you've become part of the herd.))
W Smack - January 15, 2008 10:36 PM (GMT)
I'm worried to think that all we had was truly nothing
I watch life as a bystander with silent tears on my cheeks
I wait . . . but nothing happens.
People come and go with no true meaning
Every day is a living hell knowing that you're making your own life
On the outside I'm soul-less, on the inside I'm dying
I wait . . . but nothing happens.
What now? Will I spend the rest of my life waiting on hopless dreams?
Why should I even care anymore? I know you don't.
I dream of the day when you won't haunt me
I wait . . . but nothing happens.
I'm trapped in an invisible boundary. I scream for help, but nobody turns
I try to ignore your ever-lasting presence, but you're always there in the back of my mind
My head tells my heart to shut-up and move on, but the tiny fragments are too small to heal
I wait . . . but nothing happens.
I finally see your face again and my heart jumps to my throat
Again I wait, gagged and bound by that invisible demon as my life passes by
Again you haunt me, now more than ever as you seek vengeance on my shattered remains
I wait . . . but nothing happens
The pieces left of my heart are scattered and soaked in tears and memories
The never-ending question of: “Why? Why me?” plagues me silently every day
I seek comfort and none comes
I wait . . . but nothing happens
I’m still alone – no matter how hard I try to pick up the pieces
No one will ever know the battle I fight every day
I watch you there – smiling and blurring by with the rest of the world
And I’m still here . . . waiting.
So these lands were to be my new home, eh? I stood on my own and gazed out across the large expanse of land. The terrain was beautiful - that was for sure - but it was so empty and lonely. In fact, I had to laugh at the irony, for it looked exactly how I felt inside. Sure, the place was satisfying enough, but the emptiness was almost eerie. My ears pinned to my skull as I thought of how I had come to be here. I shook my ebony and ivory head, letting my white tresses flow around me. No, I wasn't going to think about that. I wasn't going to think about the past anymore.
My gray-blue, emotionless eyes gazed out across across the terrain. Well, no matter. I knew that a few equine-typed creatures had their eye on these beautiful lands and I was sure to have a herd started here soon. I suppose that was something to look forward to . . .
Spirit Dancer - January 15, 2008 10:46 PM (GMT)
"No one's gonna hurt you,
No one's gonna dare.
Others can desert you,
Not to worry, whistle, I'll be there.
Demons'll charm you with a smile, for a while,
But in time, nothing can harm you,
Not while I'm around.
Being close and being clever, ain't like being true.
I don't need to - I would never hide a thing from you,
Like some.."Black rimmed audda, at their forward stances, hear my words echo back to me. Violet hued pools stare at the vast expanse of land before me as I trot forwards into the meadows. The shadows from the Oasis could hide my jutting ribs and hipbones; but here, shadow was scarce. I'd have to deal with concerned, (and possibly disgusted) looks at my bay figurine throughout my residence here.
My forlock drapes over my slightly dished face, and most of the slim white blaze that runs down the middle of my face to meet my charred maw.
My tail, of similar wild curls and straight locks like my mane, are splayed out in the emerald grass like a black river. My wiry limbs, black stockings with one white sock, carry me forward with such grace, that perhaps my thinness could go unnoticed. My face was gaunt, giving my violet pools a haunty look with the rest of my thin appearance. In short, I was well underweight, but unafriad of it. I'd been with a stallion who'd treated me right, but he was a gluttonous fellow. His eating habits led to his death, leaving me a widow at a young age, since he was much older than I was. Ever since his death, I hadn't eaten much. As if I feared I'd end up like him. And, despite my malnutrition, my bay coat shines like copper in the blazing sun above.
I couldn't be labeled an alliance, to most equines' displeasure. Maybe, sinec this was the land of No Alliance, I could finally find my niche in a society. I'd never truly fit in, which I hoped would change.
W Smack - January 15, 2008 11:00 PM (GMT)
My ears perked to the femme as she entered the lands. I nickered to her, raising my soft, gray eyes to meet her. "Hello," I called. "I'm glad to see you found your way." He walked slowly towards her and bowed his head in greeting. "More herd members should arrive soon, but until then, it's just us."
Spirit Dancer - January 18, 2008 09:31 PM (GMT)
Violet hues simply blinked, as black rimmed audda catch his words. Thin, bronze shoulders heave upwards in a shruglike gesture.
"I would of found my way, eventually. Wouldn't I?" I reply, with the faint traces of a smile on my gaunt features. It falters slightly, before picking up. "More members? Lovely."
W Smack - January 18, 2008 10:04 PM (GMT)
Allegro smiled. "Yes, I'm sure that you could have found your way. You're not completely dense." His light-colored pools looked to the horizon as he thought of the new equines that would hopefully be coming to these lands soon. "Yes, there are two other equines interested in these lands, but neither of them are horses." A small smile tugged at his maw as he thought of them. "You should see the stallion! He's a /zebra/! Have you ever heard of those? I've never seen one in my life. They're so odd-looking . . . but, hey, I'm not one to judge." He shrugged and added, "But I don't know if he will be joining us any time soon. He's not very respectful, and I don't know if I'll allow him into the herd or not."
sassaboo - January 21, 2008 08:40 PM (GMT)
I trotted into the lands with a bit more confidence now that I had been accepted for once. My slightly rounder ears swiveled back a forth as I approached Allegro, talking to another mare. I heard him mention a zebra stallion as I stopped beside them. "I'm half zebra..." I said, looking around curiously in hopes of finding the full-blooded zebra. As if it wasn't obvious I was half zebra, with my stripes on my bay hide and my mane that stood up.
With a sigh, I looked up at the other mare. "Oh, I'm sorry. I didn't mean to interrupt..."
W Smack - January 21, 2008 08:43 PM (GMT)
The stallion shook his head and said in surprise, "Oh, Lacy! I didn't know that you had come here! Well, Lacy, this is Nellie. Nellie, Lacy." He nodded to the two mares as he introduced them and then said, "Don't worry, you weren't interrupting. And yes, there is a full-blooded zebra stallion that will soon join the herd, but I'm not too sure where he is right now. He's a bit of an edgy fellow."
Mystery - January 27, 2008 06:27 PM (GMT)

The cascading light drifted down upon the magnificent stallion. Though the stallion did like this light, it wasn't his favorite. With it's array of colors, starting with the deep maroon gliding into the crisp purple. The large sun was now disappearing bringing it's array colors with it, the autumn afternoon turning into the autumn night of love. Well, not exactly a night of love, this stallion was certainly not feeling the love tonight. Of course the stallion had never felt true love, forever love, before. It was always get with a mare, like her and tell her that he loved her and when something went wrong, ditch her. And as the sunny blue sky that had been masked by those colors turned to that ebonite sky; white fluffed clouds skittered away to reveal the twinkling stars that could captivate anyone. Captivate anyone that could put a smile upon their lips and not be fake.
The towering trees that surrounded this male turned from a mix of greens and reds to that dark black as the shadows consumed all. The time of night where danger took hold and could do whatever it wanted. Not to this stallion, the stallion that gripped death itself and held it in it's arms, not for safety, but to know that life was real and reality wasn't imagination. What was reality? The drifting thought circulated through the brute's mind, over and over again, the question will never be answered, and the stallion knew it well. It stood there, eyes looking about, body rippling with a shiver, muscles clenching, eyes finally looking up to the stars. How the stallion hated stars, so much, it was a passion of hatred. They told so many truths and so many lies, of past and present. Sometimes, even the future.
This male did not like that at all. His own motto was live in the moment, not tomorrow. And when he knew what was going to happen next, he did not like it. Being oblivious of tomorrow's events was what sent chills of excitement up his spine and kept him going from day to day. Everyone he knew wished upon those stars. Hoping that love would come to them and wrap them in it's warm arms. He didn't want that, he wanted this black night and it's cool breezes. As the wind made a shushing sound and the world became silent.
A wind, meaningless and weak, grazed over the long, unkempt grass. Those shifting winds that brought cold and spine tingling ideas. What if you could use the wind to bring down others, to kill; but no, it would not do what it was told. Had a mind of it's own, like all others should have, but did they? No, they did not. Nobody did these days besides this stallion. This stallion stood on this long, unkempt grass, the blades he stood upon pressed into the earth, not necessarily killed or ripped up, but pressed in so it suffocated. The stallion's legs moved, hooves moving forward, closer to his destination. Those suffocating blades of grass sprang up, happy to be able to breathe again. Though, where the stallion now stood, he was suffocating more blades of the nearly brown, dead grass.
The light color of his coat was what brought other's attentions to him. How each sinewy muscle rolled over and under, clenching and unclenching. He was simply gorgeous as he moved and everyone stopped to see. Neck muscles taught as soft angled head was up and stayed up. No dominant stallion would make him lower his head. It was not of his nature nor was it the earth's nature to back down either. He would take every blow given to him like the earth was given when humans experimented. Tail of darker color swished and snapped at nightly bugs. Eyes of color and shade made him stop and look around. The herd was close by, the scents flowed into his nose.
Walking forward, everything seemed to become silent. His steps brought him just a bit closer, a warm and friendly smile wrapping up his lips. Muscles rolled as he stopped himself close to the little forming circle. There seemed to be a mare and Allegro along with a zebra looking female. Curious his eyes looked over the striped mare before nodding his head at Allegro. "Hello Allegro." He greeted calmly with a slightly deep baritone of a voice. Hazel pools glanced at the striped one every once in a while.
His presence had brought Alpha and a home.
W Smack - January 27, 2008 06:33 PM (GMT)
"Ah, welcome, Chantz," the alpha greeted the newest member of the herd. "It's time for introductions, I suppose. Well, This is Nellie Lovett," he motioned towards the dun mare at his side. "This is Lady Legacy," he motioned towards the zorse. "And this is Triton." He couldn't help but let a little chill run through his voice as he introduced the zebra stallion. He still wasn't sure if he could completely trust this one. "Everyone!" he called out. "This is our newest member, Chantz."
sassaboo - January 27, 2008 06:57 PM (GMT)
My soft green eyes looked back to the stallion who had approached us, ears flicking back shyly as he glanced towards me. Uh-oh, he probably thought I was strange, just like so many others. The zebras and horses that turned me away simply because I was a cross between the two... Or that I was odd looking compared to the taller horses around me. I glanced to Chantz, then to Triton, and back to Chantz as Allegro introduced them. Rather quickly I looked at the ground, by now I should be used to others looking at me. But the handsome newcomer only made my shyness become worse as he glanced towards me...
Mystery - January 28, 2008 12:18 AM (GMT)
"Yes welcome I feel." He said with a short chuckle. His eyes rested upon the dun mare as her name was introduced. Nodding at the mare, Allegro seemed that he already wanted her; Chantz noted seeing that she stood closest to him and was introduced first. His hazel eyes flickered to the Zorse and another nod moved his head. "Hello Miss Legacy." He spoke softly to her since she seemed a bit shy. Eyes then moved over to the full Zebra. He had seen Zebras so it was nothing knew. Yet, his look to the Zebra was not exactly friendly. From what Allegro had mentioned earlier, Chantz didn't plan on being oh so nice to this Triton.
His attention turned to Lady Legacy again. A smile wrapped on his lips and he didn't expect a reply so soon. So he let himself glance at everyone again as Allegro introduced him to everyone at once. Nodding again, that was he felt like doing. No words though it was his usual thing to do. Speak, he loved to speak and now he couldn't find the words. Shifting his chestnut hide to one side, one last flickering look to Legacy and then it was out to the clouds until she decided to speak to him.
W Smack - January 31, 2008 09:18 PM (GMT)
A tall, spotted filly walked slowly into the lands. Her head was hung and she walked slowly, dragging her peachy hooves in the dust. It had been a long trekk to get here, and she wasn't even sure if she was going to be accepted, yet. Her head raised only slightly as she twitched her ears and scented the air to find any sign of life. Yes, Allegro was here.
The alpha raised his own head and perked his black and white ears as he sensed another newcomer. He scented to wind to find if it was friend or foe and was surprised by what he found. "Heather?" he muttered to himself. He nodded his head to the herd members around him and said, "If you'll excuse me for a minute . . ." He cantered quickly to where the filly stood, and his dull eyes opened wide in surprise.
"Allegro!" the filly called, trying to fake excitement at seeing her long lost brother. "I didn't know that you lived here," she lied. "How have you been donig?"
Allegro glared at his young sister and said coldly, "Heather, you have no right to be here. I am alpha of these lands and you are not welcome."
The filly huffed angrily. "What is wrong with you? I'm your sister, and you can't even show me some hospitality?" Her ears immidiately flew back in anger.
The alpha shook his head and sighed. "You can't just come in here and immidiately expect me to accept you into my herd. You know as well as I why we haven't spoken in two years."
"That's ancient history. Can't we put it behind us?" She looked down to her peachy hooves and muttered, "My old herd didn't . . . well, it didn't work out. I came here because I thought that you would be kind enough to accept me into your own herd, but I can tell, now, that I was wrong. You're still the same old bastard I remember you for!"
"Such a young woman should not be using such foul language," Allegro teased his sister.
Heather's eyes turned to ice as she glared at her brother. "Don't try to talk to me like I'm a baby, Allegro. I know that you're old and decrepit, now, but that doesn't make you any better than me."
Allegro fell into silence as he thought. "Fine," he finally muttered. "You can stay. But I'm not responsible for you, and you better not stir up any trouble. If I have to deal with you - even once - you'll be kicked out. And don't think I won't do it."
Heather rolled her eyes, but followed her brother willingly back to where the herd stood. She would put up with Allegro for now if it meant that she could have a home and a family once more.

Hey, can't live without it,
Yeah, G'on shout about it.
Hey, I'm a symptomatic,
Love addict, Love addict.
I'm blessed, I must confess,
My heart is pounding in my chest,
Cause this love's the best,
I'm just a love addict.
Coming down with something outrageous,
Lookout now cause it so contagious.
This feeling's got me reeling,
So amped up that I hit the ceiling.
Gotta clear my throat,
Huh huh, now I gotta have some more.
- Luv Addict by Family Force 5My dark, hazelnut colored canvas is glossy underneath the sun; it bears it's own sheen from the golden grass that brushes by my long limbs as I trot carefully forward. You could never be too sure when you traveled through lands like this - something could be underneath, and cause you to trip and break something. Or, worse, a snake could be hidden within the overgrown grass. A snake bite wasn't pleasant; and one was most likely to die from it.
I toss my small tiara, which sends golden locks of my thick forlock to the sides of my face - freeing my occuli from being blocked underneath them, and thus, allowing me to have a clearer vision of the lands that stretched out before me. Peach colored hooves kept at their steady paced trot, though delicate audda pivoted at their bases as teal colored pools continued their scrutiny of the surrounding grassland and the outlines of a few equines. Nares caught the scent of the others; all of them were very, very fresh. Yet, there was only four - three stallions and two mares amongst them, which made me worry slightly.
Scoffing, I pushed aside the petty worry. I knew how odd my chestnut coat was, and how rare it was to have almost white blond locks with it. Teal hues were undoubtly another added feature that would entice any wandering suitor - or, in my case, the lord, Allegro. I couldn't tell for sure yet if anything would come from my enterance into the Upperworld; but it didn't hurt to stick around to see, now would it?

Allegro nickered to Kalliope as he noticed her arrival. He was happy to get away from his sister. She had her ears pinned back and her nostrils flared. She was happy that she had found a home, but she was not happy that it had to be shared with her older brother. "Glad to see you've made it," he said as he trotted over to greet the newest edition to ther herd.
Heather raised her nose to the air slightly to get a whiff of the new mare. She didn't look like trouble. She looked quite nice, in fact, but she didn't like the way her brother was looking at her . . .
Spirit Dancer - February 1, 2008 12:16 AM (GMT)
I flashed Allegro a grin, as teal hues took in the other members. A zebra stallion, a zorse mare, a chestnut hued stallion trying to converse with the zrose mare; and then a young filly who was a bit bigger than myself, and look similar to Allegro. Instantly my mind connected the shared blood between them, and thought he was her father - until the filly's scent reached my nares. Discovering that she was his sister, teal eyes scannered her muscled stature carefully as well as her face, noting her discontent. My gaze finally tore its self away to look back at Allegro.
"Of course, Allegro. It wasn't hard to miss the rest of your herd, with how close I'd come to stumbling into it," I replied, my playful tone smothered by my mixed accent, regretably.
W Smack - February 1, 2008 12:22 AM (GMT)
He smiled at her reply, losing himself once more in her accent - he found it wonderful. He looked from her, to Heather, then back to herd. "Come," he finally said. "I'll introduce you to the rest of the herd." However, as he began to lead her towards the herd, Heather trotted up to them so that she had matched her strides with that of her brother's.
"What, no formal introductions for me? I want to meet the herd, too, Allegro!" She knew that she was whining slightly, but she didn't care.
Allegro sighed and rolled his gray orbs slightly. "Kalliope, I am sorry to say that this is my sister: Heather. Heather, this is Kalliope Elektra."
Heather nodded politely, but said nothing, and her hazel eyes remained cold despite her small smile. "Please to meet you, Kalliope," she finally muttered. "So you are new to this herd as I am, then?"
Mystery - February 1, 2008 01:20 AM (GMT)
He stood there peacefully, though a bit bother. Legacy hadn't bothered to say hello back to him and a frown creased his lips. Looking away from the zorse, he shrugged and took a few steps away. Head turned as he heard some commotion. Ears perked as he watched a figure approach Allegro and speak. Their emotions on their faces, hope and anger. Curious, he stayed put and watched; wanting to go over and see what was happening. Usually, he was one for a little trouble, but this time he could tell he shouldn't interfere with this one.
Tail slapped around before head turned to glance at a new mare. Seems like Allegro is getting around. He chuckled to himself and watched the two other mares gather near Allegro. Feeling a bit left out, Chantz trotted over to the trio and stopped next to Allegro. "And I happen to be Chantz." He said with a boyish smile on his face, glancing from Elektra and Kalliope. Glancing at Allegro, he never lost his smile. "Getting around much?" He asked softly to the Alpha, there was no problem trying to be nice or friendly; right? Hazel eyes flickered back to the new comers before settling on Allegro.
sassaboo - February 1, 2008 01:29 AM (GMT)
I kept my ears flicked back, but not pinned, only a habit to show that I was nervous and shy. I kept looking at the ground for a while, before looking up at the herd. Allegro was talking to a mare and a filly, it seemed Allegro and the filly were related. Chantz was looking up at the sky, and Triton...Well, I wasn't sure about him. It was interesting to see a full-blooded zebra here, but he never talked or acknowledged anyone. With nothing to do, I gave a sigh before walking up to Chantz.
"Um, hi...Uh, you can just call me Lacy instead of Legacy if you'd like." I said, remembering how he greeted me after I was introduced.
Mystery - February 1, 2008 01:34 AM (GMT)
His head turned as hooves approached him. Seeing the zorse standing beside him, he smiled softly at her. "So you do have a voice." He commented with a chuckle, not meaning to be rude or anything. "Lacy is a very pretty name." His gentleman like voice rang out as he never lost his charming smile. Scooting over a tiny bit, he gave Lacy a little bit more room for her to join their little group. There was no reason to exclude anyone in the herd.
W Smack - February 1, 2008 01:35 AM (GMT)
Allegro chuckled as Chantz joined them. "Ladies, this is indeed Sir Chantz. Chantz, this is Kalliope Elektra," he motioned to the new, small mare at his side. "And this," he muttered, disgust dripping from his voice, "is my kid sister, Heather."
Heather nipped her brother's shoulder angrily. "Don't mind him!" she said and she turned back to Chantz. "I'm certainly not as bad as he makes me out to be."
Allegro ignored her and looked over Chantz's shoulder. "How are the others doing?" he asked, raising his nostrils to the wind. Everything seemed at peace and he had this strange feeling down in his gut. Could it possibly be contentment?
Mystery - February 1, 2008 01:42 AM (GMT)
He looked away from Lacy and to Kalliope Elektra. "Nice to meet you miss." He said with a nod of my head and then he heard the disgusted tone. Glancing at Allegro, Chantz never knew that Allegro could sound like that. Surprised, he glanced at the smaller mare on the other side of him. Chestnut skull reached out to get a better look at the petite mare. Not half bad looking. He thought with a roll of his eyes and a curious look. "I would doubt that, Allegro doesn't seem the one to over exaggerate." Chantz commented with a tense voice before looking at Allegro. "Uhm fine, Triton has done nothing and Lacy has just joined our circle." He said with a firm tone.
W Smack - February 1, 2008 01:53 AM (GMT)
Allegro smiled and nodded to the small zorse. "Heather, this is Lady Legacy," he said, introducing them, too.
The filly peered at Chantz curiously. He seemed nice enough, but he didn't seem to believe that she was trustworthy - and all because of her stupid brother. She nodded in a greeting to Lacy, but her eyes were wide as she took the zorse in. She - like her brother - had never met a zorse before now. She found it quite entertaining to examine the artistic stripes which ran up and down the small mare's entire body.
Allegro noticed that Heather was staring slightly and he nudged her with his shoulder to remind her of her manners. He was glad to see that Lacy and Chantz were getting along, though. She was so shy, but she seemed to be coming out of her shell.
Heather huffed, annoyed, as she was pushed lightly by her brother, but she decided not to make anything of it. She was normally quite a nice young filly, but there was something in her older brother that brought out the worst in her.
Spirit Dancer - February 5, 2008 11:24 PM (GMT)
The grin that stretched across my charred lips tightened; showing the strain I was going through to remain friendly towards Allegro's sister. I wasn't one to tolerate whines, but I'd have to deal with it.
Teal blue pools flickered over Chantz's facial features carefully, as I followed Allegro silently. I bowed my small tiara in response to my name being said, and being acknowledged politely by the brute called Chantz, before teal blue pools flickered over towards the zorse mare and the zebra stallion. I knew my stare was rude, but I couldn't help but be interested; there wasn't a doubt that the curiousity in my eyes was evident as it was on my facade. After a few brief seconds, my teal gaze returned to Chantz.
"A pleasure, Chantz."
W Smack - February 7, 2008 11:14 PM (GMT)
Allegro smiled as the equines around him started to mingle and mix together seamlessly. The herd had definitely grown to be bigger than he would have imagined, but that was a good thing. The only problem was his now ever-present sister. Long ago, she had abandoned him and shunned him in his time of need. And now he was simply supposed to accept her into his life again like nothing had happened? His brow furrowed as he thought about the pasts' troubling matters, but he pushed it from his mind as Heather stirred beside him. "Oh, what is it now?" he muttered to her.
She glared. "No need to get so cranky, your highness," she mocked him.
Allegro rolled his gray hues.
Heather huffed again and moved away from the small circle. She suddenly felt very crowded. She wandered through the tall, breezy grass. This was such a calm, beautiful place, so why did she feel so unnerved? She glanced back to her brother and the others and she, too, thought about her past. What had happened so long ago had simply been a misjudgement on her part. It coudln't have been that bad, could it? But Allegro was always the one to hold a grudge, so of course, she was still paying for her young, lax ways. She glared at her brother across the small distance between them. Why couldn't he just get over it, already?
Mystery - February 11, 2008 12:31 AM (GMT)
His attention was on Heather and Allegro. What was up their butts to make them so rude? Snorting roughly for a moment, he let hazel optics glance Kalliope once more. His ears folded up when her soft voice reached him. A small smile carressed his features and he let his chin pulled down for a moment in a nod. "Always nice to meet someone as pretty as you." He couldn't help but put on some charm and be nice. And he wasn't lying either, she was pretty and a bit unique in the least.
W Smack - February 11, 2008 09:38 PM (GMT)
Allegro eyed Chantz, but not cruelly. He was just making sure that the stallion wasn't getting any ideas, but he saw that Chantz's intentions were well-put, so he let it go without so much as a blink from his eye. "Well, at least we're all introduced, now," he muttered.
A little ways away, Heather continued to watch her brother and the rest of the herd. She perked her ears to Chantz and Lacy. Her hazel eyes sparkled. What if she could set the two up together? Chantz was nice enough, but Lacy would be too shy to do it on her own. Heather made a mental note to ask the zorse the next time she spoke with her.
Mystery - February 15, 2008 07:22 PM (GMT)
His attention was turned to Allegro. Allegro did not look please and Chantz could see it. Confused, his brow furrowed and he took a little step back. "Anything wrong Allegro?" He questioned to the Alpha, hazel eyes pondering. Looking around at the other, he saw one was missing. Heather. Seeing her standing away from the herd, he looked away. She sure is a strange mare. He thought sub-consciously. Any strange horse always boosted his curiosity and he couldn't help but want to talk to her. Turning away from Allegro, he trotted slowly over to the mare. Stopping near the mare, he examined her for a moment. "You seem to be a bit lonely." He spoke kindly, only curious in why she was so disliked by her brother.
W Smack - February 15, 2008 09:16 PM (GMT)
"No, Allegro muttered in response to Chantz. He sighed heavily. "No, I suppose nothing is wrong." He watched suspiciously as the stallion went to greet Heather. Well, she couldn't do much harm to him - not physically, at least - so he flicked an ear their way, but otherwise ignored them.
Heather started in surprise as the golden stallion came towards her. The stallion of the herd to actually accept her? "I've grown used to being lonely," she replied, whisking her tail to rid her hide of pesky flies. "And you? What would you be doing here if you, too, weren't an outsider like the rest of us? No, I think we're all used to lonely. It's company we have to worry about." But she smiled to him, enjoying the oppurtunity for some conversation where she didn't have to have her defensive guard up.

He smiled softly back. "No, I can't say I've ever been lonely before. Unless I'm traveling somewhere else, I'm always around someone." Shrugging, he glanced at Allegro. The Alpha seemed fine, but Chantz saw the one ear flickered toward them. Guess I have to be careful about what I saw. He couldn't help but chuckle at the thought. "Nor have I been an outsider. I'm even sometimes too friendly." Smiling a little more brightly, he felt a little bit more warm around Heather.

"Well, now, there's a trouble that I've never heard of before: being too nice. But I suppose I can be that way, too, sometimes." She sighed, glancing at her brother and then at the ground between her peachy hooves. "I used to be very nice, and gentle, and kind - but all that changed when I got here. I don't like being on guard and skeptical all the time, but for some reason I feel like I have to be." She chuckled half-heartedly and glanced at Chantz once more. "I think it's just something in my brother that brings out the worst in me!" Her smile faded. "But where else am I to go?" she wondered aloud. "These lands are my last chance for a true home . . ."

"Yeah, that was the reason I got chased out of herds most of the time. Being too friendly with the mares." He shrugged his chestnut shoulders as he noticed that she kept glancing at her brother. What he didn't understand was why she seemed to be so much under his watch. Heather didn't seem like trouble or that she could do anything dangerous, but that was just his point of view. These two had a whole history together and he didn't even know that much. "Well, don't let him then. Be your own horse. If you want to do something, then do it. He isn't your mother. He may be Alpha and you should respect his rules, but you aren't his little pet." Chantz said being as nice as he could have been. He usually didn't give out advice, but Heather looked so pathetic that he couldn't help but say something.

Heather smiled at the stallion. She was glad to have his advice - she rarely got any. She was normally the one comforting others with their problems, keeping her own for herself. It was nice to let her guard down, though. And this stallion was being so kind that it was easy to converse with him. "I suppose you're right," she agreed. "Thank you, Chantz. It's been nice to talk with someone."
Allegro nudged Kalliope playfully. He was bored of sitting around. "What do you guys want to do, now?" he asked.

"Your always welcomed." He smiled at her. Chantz always liked it when another let their guard down, it was always easier to talk to them that way. "Do you not want to talk to me anymore?" A brow rose, he was only teasing. Shaking his head lightly, hazel eyes shifted to Allegro and Kalliope. Hmmm maybe that's why he got a little weird when I spoke to Kalliope. Chantz merely shrugged it off as he turned attention back to Heather.

Heather chuckled and nudged Chantz's shoulder in a friendly manner and also a bit playfully. "Of course I still want to talk," she said. "What else am I supposed to do? Sit around and do nothing? Talk to my brother? I don't think so. She giggled. "I'm sure we can find something else to talk about other than my boring life. What about you? You've basically had a recap of my life story - what's yours?"

He chuckled and nudged her back, all meant to be playful and friendly. "Haha, you're right. Your brother does seem a bit strange lately." Chantz commented with a light shake of his head. Looking at her in a bit of surprise, he fretted. "My life isn't that interesting either. Grow up with mum, run around and be kicked out of herds. Be a little too attached to some mares, some I almost died from being too close." He paused and nodded his head. "Yep, that's about it." Shrugging, he knew his life wasn't that interesting. Being a ladies man was his thing, but now it didn't seem like it that much.
