Title: Can You {take} Me?
Description: Golden Rose arrives....finally.
Horsegirl - January 6, 2008 07:31 PM (GMT)
I should have come here first
My teaching forced me not to
My mind told me to go to the Grove
And look what's happened
Heartbreak, betrayal
A foal by him
He's the reason for this
He's the one that's made me this way
So I've come for help
A new life
Let go of the past, Rose
Because you're writing a new one
The mare loped through the desert, her Arab roots helping her deal with the heat. She knew that this was a place for Neutral equines. And she was one...kind of. She didn't exactly have one. She'd been Light, then been in a Dark land for a while, then back to Light. But when she was at the Letriona Forest, she'd still had traces of Dark within her. Now, alone, she wasn't sure. She'd just go with whoever got her first. But he'd play by her rules, not his. She wasn't about to be taken in by another forcer again. Oh, no. She was beyond that. She'd grown, mentally at least. Still small in body. But greater in mind.
Her golden bod shone in the sun, milky tassels swinging with her gait. Sometimes they covered her crest, creating a beautiful contrast of white and gold. Other times they were nearly transluscent, the light shining through them to make a wavy silhouette on the sands below. She was pretty, I'll give you that. But she was wily, too. She was a new mare, now. So you had better watch out.
/Anyone can claim her, she doesn't really have an alliance./

((OOC: I have a Knabstrup stallion, Finn, in the Snowdrift Glaciers. He's just arrived there, and he's not really looking for a mare right now, but if you want me to bring him, I will. ;) ))

A somewhat short, spotted stallion trotted slowly into the lands. Oh, God, what was he doing here? Did he really want a mare of his own? He had felt so alone in his own home. There were only two other horses there besides himself, and they were mates, so he felt a bit isolated sometimes. There was also the language barrier. The other two horses only spoke French and German. Luckily, the stallion had learned some German from his father as a colt, or he would not be able to communicate with the others at all.
Finn - the stallion's name - gaze out across the large wasteland. This place was so much different from the glaciers! At home, it was below zero most of the time, and it snowed almost every day. He hoped that the mare he claimed here would be ok with that . . .
His dark orbs searched through the small band of lonely mares. How was he to pick which one to take back home? Suddenly, there was a golden flash out of the corner of his eye, and Finn turned his head to gaze upon the lovely palomino mare that stood there before him. Her sandy coat blended in somewhat to the terrain around her, but she had somehow caught Finn's eye, so he immediately walked slowly towards her.
As he approached, he puzzled in his mind about what he would say to her. He was not that good at conversing with mares, and - since he was only four - he was not very good at flirting with them, either.
He took a deep breath as he came upon the lone mare and said,
"Hello, my name is Finn. I come from the Snowdrift Glaciers. What are you called?" So far so good. He hadn't made a fool of himself so far . . .
((OOC: Not as good as the origional, but it'll do. :P ))

Thorns pricked as she heard his approach, then went back again. It was natural, now, for her to not trust any stallion, regardless of loyalties. She listened to him speak, while looking over his bod. It was black-white spotted, like a certain dog. It was fine. And unique. She kind of liked that. And his hesitant manner, too.
Hello, my name is Finn. I come from the Snowdrift Glaciers. What are you called?
Finn, eh? Good, short, simple. Nice name. And he said he came from the Glaciers. Didn't mean that he was the leader, now did it? Might mean some safety, and that she wan't just another mare in a collection of poor wretches. And just a simple question. She'd answer it, but stay closed up. "Golden Rose, Rose if you'd like. Does coming from the Glaciers mean you own them, or are you just a commoner?" She said it with a slightly kindly tone of voice, trying not to sound mad. That wouldn't work too well.

Finn coughed, a little bit embarrassed. "Yes, I'm a commoner there. The land is ruled by Sir Justin - a wonderful stallion, I might add." He stood there, staring at the mare stupidly. He was caught by her beauty, and he had to shake his head to make himself stop staring.
Oh, great. Now she would think he was a freak!
"Rose, eh?" he asked, trying to keep his mind focused. "That's a wonderful name. And it suits you well."

Golden cheeks blushed--or at least came as close to it as possible. "Why, thank you." She regained her posture as he stared at her, clearly smitten. So he liked her. He actually liked her! For the first time in her life! She tried to put that in the back of her mind, yet switched her tail coyly as she spoke again. "A commoner? Well, that's probably better. You don't have to worry about being challenged for your position, or keeping all your herd in line, or whatever. Just yourself, and your mate, if you have one." Her tone of voice at the end made it clear that if he wished to ask, he could; she had seen him fit to take her back to the Glaciers.

Finn's eyes brightened as he smiled. He did have quite a sweet smile, and he had not genuinely grinned for a while, now. He was glad to have the chance now. It felt good. "That's true, I suppose," he chuckled. "Although I'm sure few stallions would bother challenging for such a place as the Glaciers, and there's just the beginnings of a herd there, anyway." His smile slowly lowered, but only slightly in seriousness, as he added, "And I do hope to have a mare there someday." He paused, only taking his eyes off of her for a moment. His legs quivered ever-so-slightly as he asked, "Would you like to be that mare? I mean, would you like to come to the Glaciers with me?" He looked up at her hopefully, but he tried not to soften his eyes too much. He wasn't going for the Bambi look, he was just waiting for her answer expectantly.

She felt her heart melt at his sweet expression, his question. She could trust him, she knew. He was nice and shepish enough to not get any ideas. Sidling up to him, she whisked her milky banner along his barrel. "Duh, silly,"she whispered, maw close to his ear as possible. "You've proven yourself. Lead the way."

Finn's hide shivered as her skin made contact with his own. He smiled and said, "Great!" He may have said it a little bit too excitedly, but what could he say? He was so happy! "Ok, follow me." And he made his way back towards the Glaciers.
((OOC: And away we go!))
