Title: Ice Is No Barrier For Me.

Mystery - December 22, 2007 12:45 AM (GMT)
Nehmen Sie nicht meinen Schnee.

My hooves, they fell softly and then harshly on the ground. One hoof would step gingerly and the rest would tromp. I was not stupid in what this place held. The ice that thickly covered the ground wasn't as thick as most thought. I almost felt like a penguin, my steps seemed like-to me- that I was waddling. My strong legs flexed as I tried as gently as I could to test the ice. Where it dipped, I did not steps. In the darker spots, I felt safer and more confident.

My chocolate toned tail brushed against my legs, icicles breaking at the touch of my warm skin. It was so cold that when my long tail brushed against the wet ground, icicles formed. My skin quivered and my muscles clenched, my skin bulging as an artic wind blew at my body. Ears flattened against my skull as light mocha colored coat kept its quivering, trying to warm my up. My movements slowly beginning to slow down the drifting winds bringing snowflakes to me.

Maybe this was the wrong land to claim, but at least I could call it home. Here and there were it was just snow and you could find some green could be the food. And licking up melted ice was good enough to call water. The large walls of ice that built up from mounds of snow frozen was sheltered enough. And as I continued to inspect the ice frozen land, I found a dark hole. Large stalagmites hung from the top of the large opening and went further in. Drops of water dripped down and into the darkness where pools lured around the edges.

The large cave brought no winds or snow into the cave, it was just a bit chilly. Popping my head into the opening, I glanced around briefly before wrinkling my nose. It smelt as if an animal lived inside and that was something I didn't want to go check out. Turning around stiffly, I went around the side of the cave and saw a little pathway. Going up that pathway, it brought me up to the top of the cave. Looking across the vast artic land, I smiled quietly.

Tossing my head back which brought me to a half-rear, I landed with a muffled thud. A large blast of wind blew at my chest as I left imprints in the ice. My hellion calling rung out and soon died with the howling winds. The winds began to pick up as more snow came down. I was now used to the subfreezing temperature and hoped that anyone that came here would get used to it too and now leave. This place would be magnificent to bring up foals, show them the true meaning of survival.

"Je suis roi maintenant." I whispered to myself. Letting my body stay stiff and still, I heard my words died slowly in the wind. Eyes of blue watched carefully as the winds swirled up around him like a tornado being made. The sight from a far would have been wonderful and quite pleasing to see. The handsome buckskin standing there, solemn and prideful look upon his face as the snow danced and glided around him.
