A small white mare trotted slowly near the stream. Well, this certainly is pleasant, she thought to herself. She sipped from the stream daintily, not really thirsty, but looking for something to do. These lands seemed so empty. She wondered how long she would have to wait here. Surely some stallion out there was hungry for mares - and, at this point, she didn't care what kind of a stallion she got, as long as she would have a place to call home!

I trotted through the grassy field, banner and cranium held high in my newfound pride. I was elated by the birth of my son, but like all other stallions, it was in my nature to jump at the chance of another mare in my herd. I paused and sniffed the air, smoky nares widening to take in the scents of trampled grass, fresh water. And another equine. I snorted in glee and loped in the direction of the smell.

I continued on until I could see the gray-white hue of the fae before me. I slowed to an extended trot to come closer, then stopped completely a few feet from her. "Excuse me," I said. "I hope I'm not interrupting anything. I am Poseidon, King of the Aurora Mountains. May I have the pleasure of learning your name?" I looked her over with blue-green occuli as I waited for her response to my question.

Michelle turned her own two dark eyes upon the stallion before her and bowed her head slighlty in a greeting. "Well, it's very nice to meet you, Sir Poseidon," she began. "And my name is Michelle." She raised her head gracefully to show off all of the good points of the beauty she knew she had.
She flicked her tail at a few annyoing flys from behind and made conversation by asking, "The mountains, eh? Is it nice there? I saw them when I arrived in these lands."

[ Coming ]

I walked into the Serenity Stream, my dappled cranium held high. My herd was finally starting to grow, and that was probably what all Alphas wanted for their herd. It wasn't enough though. I needed someone for me, not just another mare in my herd. I wanted a mate and maybe a foal one day, but that wouldn't happen unless I found just the right mare.

I came to a halt and looked over the grassy field. I spotted a mare and a stallion. Too bad she was already taken, or was she? I trotted down to the two and nodded in greeting. "Excuse me," I said. I didn't want to make a fool of myself, because I was being slower because of the other stallion. "I'm Silver Knight, Alpha of the Letriona Forest. May I know your name?"

Michelle had long since wandered away from the other stallion, Poseidon. She had grown bored with him when he hadn't spoken to her after one little greeting. She meandered by the stream. As she waited, she sang.

Help! I need somebody.
Help! Not just anybody.
Help! You know I need someone.
Help!

When I was younger, so much younger than today
I never needed anybody's help in any way.
But now these days are gone and I'm not so self-assured.
But now I find I've changed my mind: I'll open up the doors.

Michelle's thoughts drifted to the past, as they so often did nowadays, and she remembered her child-hood love. They had truly been meant for each other, but he was gone now. Sure, she was sad, and she wished now more than ever that he could be here, but she shook her head, trying to clear her thoughts. She knew that it wasn't good to live in the past.

Help me if you can, I'm feeling down.
And I do appreciate you being 'round.
Help me get my feet back on the ground.
Won't please, please help me?

And now my life has changed in oh, so many ways.
My independence seems to vanish in the haze.
But every now and then I feel so insecure.
I know that I just need you like I've never done before.

Help me if you can, I'm feeling down.
And I do appreciate you being 'round.
Help me get my feet back on the ground.
Won't you please, please help me?

When I was younger, so much younger than today
I never needed anybody's help in anyway.
But now these days are gone and I'm not so self-assured.
Now I find I've changed my mind: I'll open up the doors.

Suddenly, she noticed a new stallion on the horizon. However, she didn't think much of it and she continued to finish her song.

Help me if you can, I'm feeling down.
And I do appreciate you being 'round.
Help me get my feet back on the ground.
Won't you please, please help me?
Help me, help me, ooh . . .

Suddenly, she was facing the new stallion, surprised that he was talking to her. Was she finally going to have a home, now? She tried to hold back her excitement as she replied. "Silver Knight! It's good to meet you! My name is Michelle!" She blinked up at him excitedly, not knowing what else to say.

I had heard heard her singing, but decided not to say anything. I hoped I wouldn't mess this up and look like a fool. When she greeted me back, I smiled at her excitement. I was always excited about things that other equines thought I didn't need to be excited about, but I could never hold myself back. "Nice to meet you, Michelle!" I said back to her, then thinking of something else to say. "So, what brings you out here?" Ugh, why did I ask that? I know why she's out here! To get a home, that's what. Oh well.

Michelle bowed her head slightly, and said, "Well, I'm actually looking for a nice young stallion. You see, I used to have one of my own, but we were separated when I was kicked out of my child-hood herd. I loved him very much, but I'm trying to move on, now, so I came here to see if anyone would come and take me to their herd, but I've been waiting for a while, now . . ." She wondered if she should be speaking of old loves. Did that make things awkward? Well, too late for that. She continued, "Actually, I was beginning to lose hope. You've kind of saved me from my own boredom."
She smiled, then changed the subject by asking, "So, what are the forests like? Do you already have a large family there?"

abbydoodle96 - January 1, 2008 10:23 PM (GMT)
I listened as she told me about her old love and why she was here. I didn't mind too much about it, but would rather not hear about her old loves. I decided not to say anything about that thought, because my mind transvered to her question. "The forests are a lovely place to live and many can get used to it quick," I said. "No, I only have a few herd members. Would you like to join me there?" I really hoped she would, because I really wanted new members, along with wanting to get to know her.

Michelle smiled sweetly at the offer. "Sure," she replied, simply. "I'd love to." She wanted to get to know this stallion, too. He seemed kind and caring, and that's what she needed in a stallion right now. Plus, the forests sounded like a nice place to live. She could probably get along happily there. "I'd love to meet your other herd members, too."
