When her mother turned four and was old enough to have a baby, they started right away, but she died giving birth to Michelle. Her last wishes were for Michelle to live her life without being criticized and ridiculed the way her mother was. However, because Michelle is a half-breed, she's not good enough to be a full Paso Fino, and she's too good to be a mustang. So now she wanders, alone but hopeful.

A small white mare drifted through an open field. She looked like a ghost, but if you examined closer, one would find that her eyes were bright and deep, and showed all signs of happiness.
