Brown locks of my mane flew threw the wind, tresses flying behind me as I raced into the Desert Oasis, just the place I didn't want to be. I wondered how long I would be here before someone found me. I took a look at all of the mares here and sighed. Why would a stallion go for a boring mare like me when he could have a beautiful mare?

I was born into a large family of Quarter Horses. My parents had escaped from the humans and started a small herd of their own some place where no one could be found. Bad move I always said. My parents were really dumb and kept breeding until they were too old to breed anymore. They had 6 foals. 5 mares and 1 stallion. Greatest Star came first followed by Morning Glory and the twins Melody and Harmony. Then came me and our only brother Born Alpha. I had pity on Alpha because Mom and Dad expected so much of him for being the only colt. He is only 2 years old at the moment though. I escaped my family for I hated being apart of all of the chaos between everyone. So I came here.

I wondered how long I would be here. What made me so mad was everyone in my large family was handsome or beautiful, except me. I got a boring brown coat with boring brown eyes. I had never had a mate before and I didn't know how long it would be until I did.

For now I, Beautiful Rose, would have to wait.

Chunks of dirt flew from the brute's hooves as legs moved fluidly over the earth. Head lowered, mane flying free; the picture of elegance. But he was alone. He had been so for a while, living in solitary on the Victorian Shores, only the wind to whisper in his ear and the trees to greet him upon waking. It was time to find another, and senses told him this was the place to find that other.

Nares opened wide, taking in the teasing scent of mare. It drew him ever closer to his destination. Orbs took in a sight he relished; a mare. A bit on the plain side in terms of color and markings, but a splendidly built body. Muscled and powerful, she still managed to look graceful and dainty. He gazed upon this sight. He glanced about, for he had not been watching to where his legs had carried him. He was in a desert. Could this mare be a mirage then?

Dante shook his head, clearing the rather absurd thought from his mind. But to assuage his fears, he would go and speak to her. Greetings, maiden. I am Dante, King of Victorian Shores. What might be your calling?

Auds perked up as the stallion approached. I was very surprised that a stallion chose to talk to me of all mares in this desert. I nickered a greeting to the stallion. "Pleasure to meet you Sir Dante," I said. "I'm Beautiful Rose. Rose if you prefer shorter names."

I had no idea why my parents chose to name me Beautiful Rose, when I was not beautiful at all. My parents' nickname for me was Beauty, but I always went by Rose because I did not belive in my name. I was just an average mare. I did not need any special calling anyways, so I just go by a common name I hear often. Rose. "Why have you approached me?" I asked the brute.

A chuckle escaped his maw as a look of confusion, hate, and surprise came upon her face. He was generally excellent at reading feelings, and was able to do so in this case. Confused and surprised at the fact that a stallion had approached her in this all but empty desert, and the hate was aimed at her name. Why, he did not know, but would comply with whatever she asked for. Well, why wouldn't I approach you? He gave her a wry smile. And you needn't call me Sir Dante. Dante will do just fine. I have no need for names that seem to put me above the rest. I am but an average stallion.

He seemed really kind at the fact I didn't belive in myself about everything. I had always thought I was a really ugly, average mare with no say in anything and no place I deserved to have. "Ok, Dante," I said, smiling slightly, but not much. What was I supposed to say next? Since I had never done this before, I didn't know what to do. "I just thought a King like you would go for a...better mare," I told him, taking another look at all the other mares here.

I see no better mare. Why don't you come with me, and we shall get acquainted. Dagger elegantly pointed, hesitating before taking a step. Front pillars rose off the ground only a foot and he spun about, placing a gentle nip upon her dark crest. Turning back around, his eyes darted back to see that she was following.

"Yeah, I'll go with you," I said, my smile growing just slightly. I was glad I was actually going to be out of here pretty quickly. I thought I would be here for a much longer time, but how it turned out, I wasn't. So I was going to the Victorian Shores? Seemed interesting.I turned to follow the stallion to his land.
