Title: . Rejected . Alone .

Rose Bud walked all the way from the Dark Field to the Serenity Stream. It wasn't that long of a walk, but it was a walk she didn't want to have to take. She had followed her Dark mom to the Dark Field to be claimed and brought to the same herd as her, but Santico, the stallion that claimed her mom, rejected her. He told her she couldn't go with them.
Night's Brightest Star, her mom, always told her to grow up and leave to find her own herd, but she just wouldn't listen. She could tell the stallion didn't like her at all. She couldn't blame him though. She was 'pathetic light who talks too much', as her mom called her.
Now all she could do was wait.

A chestnut stallion trotted into the empty, lonely lands - his golden coat gleaming in the sunlight as his ears twitched and he glanced about. Finally, his eyes landed on a lone mare. He walked towards her, smiling goofily and said,
"Hello, fair maiden! May I ask what such a beautiful mare is doing in such a lonely place as this?"He raised his eyebrows and winked to her humorously. He had always been known as a little bit of a clown, but he figured that if there was no humor in life, what was the point of living?
"My name is Calamazoo - silly, I know, but aren't all parents crazy?" he chuckled at his own joke and continued,
"But you can call me Cal, if you like. I'm the new leader of the Everly Deserts." He raised his head a little bit higher when he said this. Yes, you could say he was very proud of his new home - now if only he could bring a family to such a dismal place . . .

The chestnut mare looked up at the stallion. She had been laying down under a tree, resting. Hoping someone would find her. Finally, here someone comes. She had been there for a long while now, and now was the time. Don't screw this up, she thought to herself. She smiled.
"I'm Rose Bud, Rose if you will!" she said. She thought about the Everly Deserts. She had never been there before. "The Everly Deserts, what are those like?" she asked.

Cal nodded. "Rose," he muttered. "I like the name. It fits you." He smiled and shrugged, "Honestly," he said, "the deserts are kind of dismal. That's why I came here - I was so alone in that God-forsaken land. I'm sure I can build a family there, though. There is a nice little oasis that's quite comfortable." He paused, then asked, "So, what do you think? Would you like to accompany me back to the deserts? I would understand if you don't, though. It could be hard living there." He shrugged and glanced at the ground, then back towards the pretty mare.

Rose nodded, listening as he described his lands. It sounded like a land you would have to get used to, but she really wanted to go. "Yeah!" she shouted a little too childishly. "Whoops. Yeah, I'll go." She smiled.
Would she finally have a home where she could live peacefully and happy? It would be her first home away from her mother, which she was finally starting to like. Would she ever have her own family? Only time would tell. She really wanted to get to know this stallion.

Cal smiled. "Great!" he cried. His first mare! His dream of having a family and a home of his own was finally coming true! "Well, follow me, then." He nipped her flanks lightly in the traditional claiming procedure, and then trotted forward, happy to show her his home and let her into his life.
((OOC: You can just go straight to the herd, if you want. :D ))
