"Where are we going, Momma?" Rose Bud, my daughter, asked me. She snorted as she waited for my response, which I did not intend on giving. She halted and stamped a dagger against the hard ground, then started to follow me again. She was having one of her normal tantrums again. It was getting annyoing that she still did that at the age of 3. Why did she always have to act like such a baby? "I want to know!"

I didn't even know where I was going, but why did my pathetic Light of a daughter have to follow me all the way here? She was old enough to be able to go where she wanted. But, noooo! She had to follow me where ever I go! I was getting tired of it. If she wasn't my daughter, she'd of been kicked by now. By me. I snorted and came to a halt. I rolled my opticals, my audials back against my obsidian cranium.

Now, all we could do was wait.

Hooves pounded the ground, breaths coming in uneven gasps. The journey had been harder than he thought. But he was here. Nares opened wide, welcoming any scent to enter. The smell of mares wafted across the clearing, and the brute snorted in surprise at how very close they were. His black eyes darted about, searching for them. A stark black figure stood in an irritated position, and a youngster while she trotted around and threw her head and stomped. She was probably too young. But the other seemed like she would do fine. The stallion made his way through the tall rippling grass, each step heavy with relief. Whipcord whipped around ferociously, killing the tiny bloodsuckers that annoyed him so. Finally reaching the mare, he came to a stop. Giving an annoyed and reproachful look to the red one, he averted his eyes and gave his attention to the black. His eyes seemed to be laughing at her. I am Santico, ruler of Deathtrap Riverbed. May I ask your cursing?

"Hi, Santico!" Rose shouted. She almost sounded like a little filly when she said it. Well, she was still a filly. But, she needed to act older one of these days. "I'm Rose Bud, but you can call me Rose if you want to. This is my mom, Night's Brightest Star, but she likes it when you call her Star. She does not like the name Night, so don't call her that!"

Ugh, when would she ever shut up! I glared at her then looked back at the stallion and nodded. "What she said..." I said, obviously annoyed. This stallion would probably think I was stupid for hanging around and pathetic Light talk-too-much filly! "It's a pleasure to meet you," I said.

A sigh escaped his maw as he glanced at the filly again. But turning away from her antics, he spoke with the mother. Well, Star. It is a pleasure to meet you as well. May I ask what your business here is? Just out of curiosity. He glanced over at the young red one, and rolled his eyes. They were a lot cuter when they were still fuzzy and gangly. As they got older, they just got more and more obnoxious. He thought about letting Rose go with them. But he just wasn't sure. A foal from another stallion residing in his land... No, it wouldn't work. She was old enough to find her own home, and besides. It was about time she was weaned. But as for the mother... well she would do quite nicely.

"My Mom and I am here to find a home," Rose said, talking before her mom to even have a chance. "Can we go to yours!?" she blurted out, not thinking at all.

I rolled my eyes at my daughter. He was talking to me! Why did she always have to but into my conversations? I sighed. "Yeah..." I said. "To find a home." I was really annoyed at the moment at my daughter.

Ah. Well let's see here... He turned and gazed at Star. You may come with me. However, I do not think Rose can. It is about time she is separated from her mother. He glanced at Rose. I am sorry, but you will not be coming with me. He nudged her. Now, say you goodbyes, and if it alright with your mother, we will be off. He gave a soft claiming nip to Star's silky crest, just to be sure. Now she couldn't really refuse, whether she wanted to or not.

"Well, that's too bad," Rose said. She stomped a hoof against the ground and snorted. She stomped again, obviously having another tantrum. She looked to me with a pouty face on, giving me the ol' puppy dog face. "I want to go!"

I rolled my eyes. She was such a little baby who always needed her mommy for everything. I glared at Rose that showed her that she wasn't going. I looked back over to Santico. "I'll go," I said. "Willingly." I could tell I was going either I said 'yes' or 'no'. Lucky for him, I wanted to go. I waited for him to lead the way back to his land. Would I like it there?

Rose snorted, pouted, and turned around to head for the Light claiming grounds, where she obiously needed to go to begin with.
