{{OOC:> I'll post now if that's ok.}}
Thud.
Thud.
Thud.
A dapple grey brute made his way through the claiming lands, trying to find himself a mare. He had no one in his herd yet. He had had one, but she left for some reason. Was it his land? Was it him? Or was it her? He had no idea, but he was hoping to do a better job on finding a good mare this time.
He came to a halt and looked around for a moment, seeing if anyone was around. Then he spotted someone. A beautiful paint bay by the looks of it. He walked down to her and came to a halt a few feet away from her. He looked at her, wondering what to say. Should he introduce himself or wait for her to? He was silent for a moment to see what she would say.
{{not my best post.}}

Black rimmed audda rested back, into the wild mass of jet black curls that I'd never see. I didn't even know what color I was, how tall I was, or even if I looked funny whenever I walked, or even at this current moment. And I would never, since I'd been blind since birth. Somehow, I'd managed to survive five years abandoned within the unfriendly recesses of the intimidating mountains I'd been born in - living like a rouge, untameable and free.
Unknown to me, my facade and frame showed signs of an Arabian lineage; due to my dished tiara and long, spindly legs that were charred black and graced with white socks so small they almost looked like small gloves. A blaze ran down my tiara, meeting a charred muzzle that had the faint traces of a long-lost laugh or two, and only a few white spots defaced my entire bay appearance from being perfectly symmetrical. Though, those diminutive spots made me more unique than my condition. As did the milky, blue violet hues that stared blankly towards the direction of thudding hooves.
Despite the fact I couldn't see, it didn't mean I couldn't tell where he stood, or what gender he was. Or even how tall he might of been standing, some meters away.
"Even though I can't see, I know you're there," I comment dryly, a frown off-setting the distant traces of laughter from my features. I wasn't afraid to tell him I was blind, or even imply it. My only issue with my impairment was when I was being used and I could never tell, like when I'd been a Mistress some months ago. "So you might as well make yourself known."

{{I'm changing to 1st person}}
I stepped back once as I heard she couldn't see. To me, it sounded like she was blind, but was not afraid to show it to anyone she met. I sighed and walked one step forward. My silver tresses almost touched the ground, even when it was up a little higher off the ground.
"Hello, miss," I said. "I'm Silver Knight, alpha of the Letriona Forest. Who might you be?" I was not one to be all formal like some other alphas were. They wanted to act so polite in a so formal way. It just annoyed me to speak like that. I awaited her response.

The wild mass of black locks of my tail swung from side to side, as I thought carefully. Audda caught the single shuffle of a step taken backwards, which frustrated me slightly. After hearing such news, I was always treated differently. If that's what the brute would do now, then he'd get a ear full of it. I hated being treated differently from others because of something I never had. In the end, it only made my other sense stronger. Like, I could tell where you stood from acute hearing and feeling the vibrations through the earth; I could tell how you felt through the same way, too. My taste, however had left untouched, though my smelling abilities often caught whiffs of things long since left behind.
"A pleasure, Silver Knight," I replied, my tone losing it's biting tone, replaced with a warmer one - thus, welcoming the slight accent I'd acquired from the herd I'd lived with months before. "I am Malaika, or Laika."

I tilted my head slightly to the side and smiled, my forelock getting in the way of my opticals. I shook my head to get them out of the way. I nickered a greeting to the mare. Would she come back to the land with me? Or reject me like the other mare had done? I shook the thought out of my mind to focus on this mare. I had never met someone blind except once, but that was no big problem. She may never know what I looked like, or herself, but that was no problem at all.
"Pleasure to meet you, Laika," I said. "So, what brings you out here?" I asked her, not knowing what to say next.

Spindly legs shifted underneath me, showing some discomfort. The subject was a tender one, but I'd shouldered everything and moved on. So, I guess I was fairing rather well ever since I'd left my enslavement.
"Looking for what every mare my age whats," came the joking response, though I doubted he understood. All I wanted was a real home and some security. I didn't have much desire to instantly settle down and find a brute to have foals with. Goodness, no. I wanted to have my fun for a bit, and find "Mr. Right" first. "What about you? I would think that as an Alpha, you'd have your mind pretty full of responsibilities."

I nodded, looking at the ground for a moment. Was she getting bored already? That was not what he wanted at the moment, but he needed to stop thinking about himself for once. I looked back at Laika.
"I thought so," I said, jokingly. She seemed to want a herd. Well, of course she did! She didn't have one. If she did already have a herd, why would she be here?
"Well..." I paused for a moment, wondering what to tell her. I didn't want her thinking I was a failure at being an alpha of a land if I had no one in my herd except me. Maybe she would understand. "This is part of the responsibility. Getting at least one mare for my...small herd."

I couldn't help but frown, if just slightly, at his last words. Since when did Alphas have nonexistent herds? /Maybe he'd just recently became a King,/ came the thought, as my tail flicked a few times once again. /Yeah, that's it./
"I'm sorry about your herd," came the half-muttered apology, as if trying to show I had some experience with that type of thing. When honestly, I didn't. I was either alone, a wanderer, or in a huge herd where you could easily get lost within the sea of voices and scents around you.
[x] Sorry for the uber shortness. D: [/x]

I sighed as I saw her frown. Was she disapointed that I was all alone in my own land? That I had not successfully claimed any mares at all? Then I remembered something. Oh yes, the new arrivals that arrived a few days ago at my land. I almost forgot about them, but I wouldn't tell them that.
"It's alright actually," I said. "There is a mare and her foal there." I wondered about asking her to go there. We could talk more there if she accepted to go there with me. "Would you like to join my herd?" I asked her, hoping she wouldn't reject me.
Spirit Dancer - November 16, 2007 08:34 PM (GMT)
Black rimmed audda flickered forward, to catch the words he spoke and their emotion. I could hear the curiousity, until he spoke of the other members.
"There is a mare and her foal there."
Ooh, goodness. I stiffened slightly at the mentioning of a foal. As a Mistress, mares were denied the rights to bear children. So, as a result, any foal borne from the mare and her Master was killed. Thankfully, I'd never suffered such a loss, but I couldn't help but feel the pain and anguish that every mare felt if that happened to them with my old herd. So, at any rate, foals in general was a very sensitive subject. Even if there wasn't any scars of physical abuse burnishing my pelt, I bore psychological and emotional scars from the ordeal.
Just as my mind was recovering from its brief relapse, audda catch his request. To follow him into a herd meant I was probably there for life, unless I grew unhappy. Though I doubted the latter, since I knew I probably wouldn't survive very long while traveling back to this place.
"Sure," comes my response, a slight, awkward bob of my tiara follows suit.

I nickered and smiled as I heard her accept my request to come back to the herd with me. I nodded and walked a bit closer to her.
"Do you need help getting there?" I asked. I hoped it didn't offend her. That it didn't sound like it was impossible for her to get there. I just wanted to know if she needed help getting there because she was blind. I awaited her answer.
((Sorry for the uber shortness.))

[x] Whenever you have a herd topic in the Forests, I'll just bring her there. I'll let you decide on Laika's ranking, whether she's in Knight's harem or not. [/x]
