Sure, since to me he takes more after Melody than Poseidon. Names? Perhaps something to do with the ocean or Greek mythology.....
abbydoodle96 - October 13, 2007 02:09 PM (GMT)
Hmm....do you have any ideas?
Horsegirl - October 20, 2007 09:58 PM (GMT)
I had thought of Talos. He's in Greek mythology, one of Hephaestus's creations. In this one book I read, the characters ran into a disfigured version of him.....since this foal'll have trouble speaking/breathing (preferably speaking) I thought Talos would be a good name.
abbydoodle96 - October 23, 2007 06:00 PM (GMT)
Yeah, I think Talos would work!
Horsegirl - October 26, 2007 01:41 AM (GMT)
Okies...it looks like it'd fit him, too, from the picture....

Hmmmm.....how about in two weeks, on a Friday or Saturday, whenever you decide, since you're rping him. And I have an idea: any colts they have are named after Poseidon, and any fillies are named after Melody.

I guess that could work. Can't wait! :D

I was just looking through your site and was wondering about your coat colors for these foals.
This foal and all the previous ones (except for two or three) were wrong colors. I don't mean to be rude, but how in the hell do you get a ROAN out of BROWN and GREY? Genetics do not work this way, they do not combine. It's called recessive and dominant. I suggest putting up a chart for recessive and dominant colors or appointing someone who obviously knows all the information.
This foal would obviously be grey, because grey is a dominant color. Not a roan.
Sorry to be rude, but any other person who really knew horses would also see this and it needs to be fixed. |
A NOTE FROM SASSABOO: Well, to whomever this may concern. I am sorry that you have decided that the way our site works, mostly it's foal system, is not up to your standards. I am sorry that your judgement of our site has been seemingly based entirely upon the foal stats given. Yes, we understand that naturally genetics work a lot differently than what we post. You must also remember that most horses aren't of this many breeds in the wild, and twins are typically a rare event as well. But that's just it, this is a roleplay site.
Not everything is going to be perfect, and it is not the best site for everyone. But it seems to have been working well enough. Many of our admins don't have the time to construct a genetics chart for us to use when creating foals stats. Also, it's just easier to stick to the 'system' we've had since the site was created. The topic of following true genetics has already been discussed before, but it is easier to just 'combine' the colors. Maybe sometime in the future we shall have a genetics chart involving the recessive and dominant colors, but for the timebeing, everyone should remember that this site was created for fun and a place for its members to come and get involved in equine roleplay. Not everything is going to be 100% natural for horses, their genetics, behavoir, etc. If the foals genetics become a genuine and repetitive problem with the members of Hopeless Hearts, it may be changed. But as there is no problem that's been brought up amongst its members, things will remain the same.
A NOTE FROM HORSEEGIRL: I just wanted to add that, yes, it would be good if we had a genetics chart. However, as Sassaboo stated, there are not as many breeds of horses in the wild. Most are draft-type, Arab-type, or some other type of Mustang. There are barely any miniature horses, or ponies, or pure Thoroughbreds. And on the colors, for example, you have a grullo and a silver bay. Exactly how would that work? Many of us don't have the experience to figure that one out. Most of us are still in high school or lower, and don't have the experience or time to figure out true genetics. However, we appreciate your view and will look in to perhaps doing something about it.
