Description: which one do you want

I don't know if this has been asked before, I didn't see it so i am now asking which one do you want? For me it's the Wii. I have NO INTEREST in a PS3 at all. there is nothing coming out at launch that a must play, that won't be on X-Box 360.

From screenshots and a few videos I've seen and compared to the xbox 360 and the ps3, the ps3 seems to have more smoother and detailed graphics. Let's face it, besides the slow loading times that people are talking about, the PS3 is going to be the power house of gaming. Their controllers are going to be like a hybrid dual shock X wii controller. They look like a standard ps2 controller but yet have motion sensors built in.
One problem that I've had with sony since the beginning is that a lot of the games they have I've just not liked. Comparing the ps2 to the original xbox, the ps2 had so much more terrible load times. The greatest example was max payne - compare them on both.
Besides all of that, I think Nintendos success will depend firstly on how well the controller works and then how much third party exclusive support they can get. The other question is are software developers going to even do non-exclusive ports from the much more powerful xbox 360 and ps3 systems.

This isnt as easy as I thought it would be.
I am very impressed with the Wii and plan on buying it. Everything from the controller to the price suits me.
However, I cannot discount the PS3. I am a huge fan of japanese RPG's. Now that Sega is gone  I find myself playing rpgs on the ps2.
I will not be buying the PS3 right away, but in the end I will probably play more games on it than the Wii. I do hope that Nintendo gets better third party support and more adult games.
To sum up, Wii at first, then PS3 later on.

I voted for the Wii. I'm looking forward to the Virtual Console feature and all that the controller might be able to do. But maybe... maybe it's just that I want to play Earthbound and all of the classics I haven't been able to play on their original platform. Heh.

It's the Wii 100% and all the way baby!

Hmm, it is amusing what I am seeing everywhere I go where this question is concerned. It is funny to me that nobody really cares about the PS3. I am happy to see this though as it seems that people have gottebn past the Sony Hype Machine! The Wii especially looks cool to me because I am all out a classic gamer at heart, and am a huge Turbo Grafx/Duo fan, so I am looking forward to the Virtual Console as well!

I have to say that I am a bit interested in the PS3, but more because of the free Internet gaming features which is supposed to rival XBox Live. Playing some classic (or at least classic-style) games through the service isn't too bad either. But the initial price point... five hundred, six hundred smackers... I just can't see a reason to buy it at release. Even if it's going to debut with something like 20 titles.
The Wii, less expensive, made by Nintendo so good first-party support, isn't without its' own issues. It won't be as powerful as either the 360 or the PS3, but who cares as long as the games are well done, right? But even so, it's not going to be much more powerful than the Gamecube, which means it might suffer (even with the Wii-mote) from some of the same titles that the GC has. Not that that's a bad thing necessarily, but I want to see all kinds of brand-spankin'-new stuff. One thing that does kind of irk me is having to purchase the Web browser to do things online with it. ESPECIALLY since it's using Opera, which has for a while been a completely free browser (I use it often enough... and if you're curious, right now I'm on FireFox lol), that they've adapted and decided to charge for.
Five bucks for NES games, eight bucks for SNES games, ten bucks for N64 games (according to this month's Game Informer), dunno for sure about the other consoles emulated... I hope the emulation's very well done.
Sorry to dump on it, just thought I'd answer to the other side of the discussion since we seem to be supporting the Wii unanimously. lol :)

Nintendo is going to sell the point cards like Microsoft does. At the start they are going to have 1,000 points per card and the downloads are going to cost a certain amount of points each. The cards will retail for $20.00 i think ( can't remember ) so not a bad deal.

I know they're doing the point-card thing, that's one reason I'm happy about the concept (I don't like putting my credit card number out on the 'Net). From what I read in GI, the points are worth a penny each, that's how they came up with the prices for each game. So more likely the cards, if twenty bucks each, would have 2,000 points on them. They said 500 points for NES, 800 points for SNES and 1,000 for N64... I just find it kind of hard to pay that much for a game virtually when I can easy enough find a cart of the same game (true, I'm excluding the initial cost of the system at the moment) for, more often than not, cheaper. Buying Super Mario Brothers for the Wii might be five bucks in the end, but I've never seen a cart of it go for more than three (if my memory serves).
Basically though, I'm just complaining about their selected price. lol
