Title: Movies?
Description: DVDs ya watch.

What're you guys watching now? I usually buy the cheapo flicks that were released a few years earlier it seems, as recently I picked up "Harold & Kumar Go To White Castle," and for my birthday I got "Surf Ninjas" (I didn't even know I wanted it!).

So what've you bought lately? Any new flicks, box sets, television seasons...?

Malakai - August 14, 2006 10:38 PM (GMT)
I haven't bought any movies in a long time, although I use to buy them all of the time. lots of Laserdiscs, some vhs, a good ammount of DVDs. I have watched quite a few movies though. One of the last ones I saw was the one about the video game. Can't even remember the name of it, but it had that malcolm in the middle kid in it.. frankie muniz or what ever. It was about this guy who beta tested video games, he got a demo of this new game where if you die in the game, you die in real life.. he dies, his friends get to play the game, and some more people die, yadda yadda yadda.. .hehe - I personally thought it started out like a B-Movie flick, but it wasn't too bad I suppose.

I remember hearing about that movie, saw the commercials for it on TV. The graphics on that game were almost laughable at times. lol

I've been watching The Boondocks and Robot Chicken DVD seasons lately, I love these shows. And Harold & Kumar Go To White Castle. Great stoner flick, it's stupid and kinda insightful, all at the same time...

Robot chicken is great..I love when Danielson was cleaning the toilet for Mr Myagi...."Hoy Danielson, toilet no unclog itself"

lol... One of my faves is the short bit with the trailor-park dude slapping around his blow-up doll, then takes a short breather with his cigarette, then starts smacking it again.

Just finished watching Ong-Bak: The Thai Warrior, that was pretty cool to watch a Muay-Thai (hopefully that's spelled correctly) expert out of the ring, doing some absolutely insane stunts. I dunno if I'd call him the next Bruce Lee, or Jackie Chan, or Chow Yun-Fat or Jet Li, but he's pretty damn incredible style-wise.

Bump. Heh.

Bought The Wizard on DVD a few days ago, I don't remember seeing the whole thing through when it first came out, but now I have, and it gave me goosebumps remembering that this was the first sign the public had of Super Mario Brothers 3. Not the best movie (alright, cheesy and horrible and some plot points really didn't make sense, and a couple little blunders in editing), but still a fun watch.

My favorite Robot chicken is either the Cobra one, where the body is stuck to the ceiling or the Super Friends Real world spin off. I have the Season 1 DVD's of it and my son and i watch them all the time.

Well, I ordered Corpse Bride and Full Metal Jacket on HD-DVD. Hopefully next month I'll be able to watch them on the 360 hd dvd player. I noticed that some of the hd dvd players are coming down. Circuit City has a rebate on one of them that's like $374 after the $50 mail in rebate..

I use to watch horror movies all the time, but I guess not many good ones come out any more. Now, it's Horror/Comedy. Scary movie, Slither, Shaun of the Dead, etc. I guess we can thank shows like evil dead 1, 2, and 3 for making the genre. The only reason I ordered Slither was because it's one of the few new movies that actually come out at a 1.85:1 aspect ratio.

The reason 2.4x:1 ratios were popular was because they show more video objects/details in the video in a wider screen, but with HD televisions showing off their true colors (IMO, because black bars suck) - I think some studios are going to start going back to 1.7x or 1.8x:1 ratios. They probably had a chance to make 2.4x:1 ratio HDTVs and for what ever reason, decided to stick with what we have now. It'll probably be many years before they change it all again.

I, however, have said this time and time again. 1.8X:1 is outdated, because of movies even from the 50s used 2.4x:1.

I have started to get tired of seeing silver bullet, lost boys, and the halloween series every year though. Maybe we can see some new stuff one day.

Well, I finally got to watch X-MEN 3. Good movie, the darkest of them all. It looks like it'll be the last of the x-men movies, or at least that's what I think.

Just saw Casino Royale 007.

I liked it! Bond is back from the dead in this one. Fight scene after fight scene after cold-blooded murder and high rollin gone awry. It never lets up. Daniel Craig is a better James Bond than Pierce Brosnan was. He deserves the role.

Well what are you waiting for? Go see it!

Malakai - November 25, 2006 01:31 PM (GMT)
I got to see Click last night. I thought it was suppose to be a comedy, but it wasn't very funny. Also watched Behind Enemy Lines 2, which also totally sucked.

RetroYoungen - November 26, 2006 08:59 PM (GMT)
I still want to get out and see Borat, that one just looks too funny to miss. But lately I haven't been able to watch ANY movies, damn Black Friday and working the rest of the week and not being able to cash my check from the week BEFORE until tomorrow... >.<
