Hey, I was wondering if you guys and gals could share your thoughts on the DS. I was going to buy one for my girlfriend and wanted to know if it's a good choice or not. Thanks
Hey Steve
Well I've had lots of fun with the DS. The chip media for games is a nice touch. I think a DS is a good buy for your girlfriend. She'll enjoy it. Like Wii, the game library is growing faster than PSP's. Sales are pretty good. There are lots of fun games for DS that should keep her hooked for quite a while.
And for you, there are tons of anime titles including Trauma Center, Lunar, Yu-Gi-Oh, Naruto, among several others.
Another cool feature is it plays GBA games too (but only the single player ones since there is no jack available for the GBA link cable- Castlevania games work fine with it though.)
Unfortunately there was no chip manufactured for a DS to recognize Game Boy Color and original Game Boy games, so they won't work on a DS. That's the only drawback though, so keep your GBA SP if you've got one.
Another great feature is its diversity. DS has puzzle games for brainiacs, cooking games for parents, and Portrait of Ruin for game hobbyists like ourselves. No one can say no to DS. It's that good.
Off the top of my head, great games include Resident Evil, Zelda Phantom Hourglass, Final Fantasy 3 (the japanese famicom rerelease), Puzzle Quest, two Castlevania games, New Super Mario Bros, Mario and Luigi, Children of Mana (it's ok I guess), and Brain Age to name a few. Gamestops are cutting into Wii shelves to make room for DS!
All in all, you can't go wrong with investing in a DS- I personally believe it annihilates PSP big time. The games are more fun and, as are all Nintendo products, it is more durable and unlike PSP, it won't explode in your face. :D
Give this stuff a go and tell us all how much you like it.
You need to definately buy her one. The DS rocks so much, ranging from puzzles games to simulation to old school point and click adventure type games. She won't be disappointed. You should also get one so you guys can link together and play together.
