Well, hopefully, if everything goes right, I Am Legend will be released on combo format HD-DVD/DVD tomorrow. I actually just pre-ordered it tonight. I've been wanting to see this movie for awhile now but really hadn't thought of buying it until finding the combo format for around half price.

Of course, there is always that possibility that they could cancel it at the studios the day of release lol..

Well, good news... Just got an email from amazon that my order has shipped.. So, I guess they really did release it... Now, let's just hope the movie is good heh...

Did you like the movie? I actually didn't. Between the ending and all the forced tear jerker scenes. I still see him as the fresh prince..lol

Ya know, I thought it was OK. It's probably a rent or wait for it to come on TV thing for most people, but I'm not too worried that I bought it. I pre-ordered it for like 40% off, probably the price of the DVD version alone and got both HD-DVD and DVD on the same disc.

In the beginning, it was kind of hard to tell how good the picture quality was going to be.. At times, it looks like an indie film, but overall, the video wasn't too bad...

*WARNING SPOILER BELOW*

This version had both the regular and alternate endings.... The regular ending, he blows himself up with a few of those night people..... In the alternate ending, he realizes that they only come for the girl (night creature) he had been experimenting on, and when he gives her to them, he gets to live but doesn't get the cure, as opposed to getting the cure but dying in the original ending. So, there is no perfect ending here.

I also thought it was pretty bad that the dog had to die too.

IMO, it probably barely scrapes by with a 2.5 out of 5........

hmm, I didnt know about the alternate ending, had the bootleg..lol
So, what happens to the woman and the son in the other ending? Do they still make their trip north?

*MORE SPOILERS*

In the alternate endings, all of them live, and it only shows them making the trip (driving down the road in a car).. It never shows them arriving at the safezone.

Even though both endings aren't great, the alternate ending probably makes more sense to the movie, because it ties in with the storyline just a bit more. I'll explain...

If you remember the part where he is doing his studies and says something like "these creatures are losing their instincts and were getting more stupid all of the time ." or something about them possibly starving and such because they were actually coming into the light more... You see one part which kind of counters that in the regular film, where they actually create the same type of trap that he used to capture them for experiments, but what you don't see is their reasoning...

Their reasoning is because they were mad at being experimented on and killed, and apparently the last girl creature he captured was the night creature leader's girlfriend i guess you could say... It showed they didn't lose their thinking abilities, instincts, or compassion, at least for their own "kind" if that makes sense... even if they had eaten about every other human in the world that survived...lol
