I'm just curious whether you can just plug in a Japanese system (saturn, mega cd, pc engine, panasonic Q, etc.) straight into any wall outlet in North America without frying it. Or do they require converters?

The strange thing is I've seen PC Engine Duo Rs on sale for a lot less than what people want for a working Turbo Duo. (It's American and costs way more for crying out loud!)

It's possible to fry a unit, although I never have with my saturn. You can buy a stepdown converter, which I believe converts 110 volts in to 100, for Japanese systems.

For systems like a mega cd, you're using an external power supply anyway. So, just use a North-American power supply, as the system itself only uses 9 volts.

For a Japanese duo or pc engine, I'm not sure, but they probably both use an external power supply too. If the duo is a specialized power supply that can't easily be bought separately, I'd definitely use a step down converter on it.

I've never had trouble with Japanese systems here, I think the big worry is NTSC systems in Pal territory and vice versa. Always play it safe though cause Imported systems are expensive to ship
