Nintendo Wii consoles are finally coming down on Ebay, closer to their standard retail prices. I noticed that they were actually going down a little bit within about two weeks before Christmas time, most likely because if you buy one that close to Christmas, you may not get it in by Christmas, as well as many people who really wanted one and wanted to over-pay probably had one already.
A month ago, Wii systems were going for around $470-$490. Two weeks before Christmas, they were going for around $430-$470, and now, just slightly over the retail price.

Some might think that Nintendo keeping the gamecube in production and in stock in most stores while many people couldn't find a wii locally, that Nintendo was doing people a favor, but they, unfortunately just announced that the gamecube will be officially discontinued in early 2008.
How will this affect people? Most likely, it'll mean that there will be very few gamecube games on store shelves, and people will have to buy them on ebay or used at flea markets and garage sales.
Since the wii is backwards compatible, however, there may just be a little bit more life in the cube. Who really knows?
Maybe I spoke too soon. Some of the prices are going back to $350-$450.......
just a hint- those prices are for some games and accessories included with the Wii-nothing's changed. And Gamecube and GBA are completely off the shelves for good.
(Now with more Wii games it's easier for gamestop to mix things up when they sell their system bundles.)
Ebayers will continue to sell systems by themselves for the price of gamestop bundles.
