I'm not sure if I said anything before about the new T-2 master being made in Germany, for HD-DVD, but here's the scoop. The Blu-Ray version was first to be released, on inferior mpeg-2 technology, in North-America. Next, the mpeg-4 (avc or vc-1, can't remember) version was released on HD-DVD in France. Both used the same Master, the one from the Ultimate T-2 edition, one I believe that came with a DVD and a WMV Hi-Def disc, with some type of digital rights management on it, for PCs only.
Anyway, a company in Germany (Kinowelt) said they believed they could do the master better. So, it's being mastered for a third time, with both newly mastered video and 7.1 sound. The new version will feature HDI with hopefully lots of web-enabled features and downloads. It'll also feature the extended cut. It should also be loaded with extra content.
I knew about this for awhile but never got a release date, and even now, it's only an estimated release date of March 2008. Remember, HD-DVDs have no region encoding, meaning you can buy them and play them on any player.
