According to several reports, Resident Evil: Extinction will be coming to HD-DVD in Germany Feb 4th, 2008. This will be complete the trilogy on HD-DVD! Imagine that - a Sony Screen Gems trilogy on HD-DVD!?!?!?!

The question I wanna know is after that ending, will there be a part 4 like originally planned?

I believe they will do a sequel to extinction. This new CGI movie they're making isn't really a sequel and is mainly from capcom rather than Sony, and is suppose to be a completely unrelated storyline.

As far as whether or not it'll have the same or similar script (or storyline) as was planned, it could. I believe it was to be set in Tokyo. The way I see it, the story would really have to have at least Japan involved, as well as Alaska. It would be great if Alice met up with Jill again in Alaska, and then they both set out to take down the Japanese sect of the Umbrella Corporation. Of course, Jill being there would depend on Sienna's shooting schedules with other movies etc.

Then again, Alice just may have a whole new army of her own, if you know what I mean (if you've seen extinction, you'll know what i mean.)

Well, I just ordered RE: 2 Apocalypse on HD-DVD. One of the reasons I am waiting for the original RE is because, for some stupid a$$ reason, this german company decided to use mpeg-2 encoding on part one and 2. Hopefully that'll change, but some people say RE 1 is probably inferior to source material because of this. RE 1 was also considered low-budget compared to the last two. I've never heard of any other HD-DVD being released on mpeg-2, only first-gen blu-ray titles, but a big guess as to why they are doing it probably has something to do with licensing issues. Maybe they didn't want to pay microsoft for vc-1 or whoever else for avc..... They say the sound material is of superior quality though. German dvds and hd-dvds seem to get very high grades for their sound mastering techniques and high subwoofer output.

In Japan, RE 1 on HD-DVD will be coming out in december I believe, and it should be vc-1 or avc encoding. The problem is that they only plan to release the first one, as far as I know. So, I bought the 2nd one as a German import and then will buy the first as a Japanese import, 3rd most likely as a german import, even if they decide to use mpeg-2, reluctantly lol.....

It looks like the German release of RE: Extinction has been pushed back 10 days, to Feb 14th, 2008. Still going to be a must have for any one who has an HD-DVD player.
