Which is your preference of the systems, and why? And also, what games are you thoroughly enjoying for each? Or ANY for that matter?

I wouldn't mind owning a WII system now, just to tinker with. Some games, like zelda, may be fun...
PS3........ Hmm, I don't have an urge to own a ps3, other than to possibly get a blu-ray movie player.
360... You have blue dragon coming out in a few weeks. Eternal sonata may be interesting..
I'm not impressed with much out or coming out soon, not even with halo 3. I'm not really enjoying any games at the moment lol...

I realized I didn't even answer my own question! lol
I've been playing my cousin's fiancee's Wii (they live with me, so it's easy enough), and I've had so much fun with it playing just Wii Sports that I'm considering buying one just for myself. That, and I'll buy a system just because of a little game called Nights.
If it was coming out for the 360 I'd get one of those. If it came out for the PS3... I might buy it, provided I could save up the dough. But the Wii? Three paychecks, and I'm there. ^_^

I have a Wii, and my brother has an XB360, but as it stands, I'm still catching up on old PS2 titles that I haven't finished yet. Finally getting around to finishing the Jak and Daxter series. (Jak 2 can be ridiculously difficult near the end.) Then I have the Ratchet and Clank series to finish off too.
Don't have any plans to get a PS3 anytime soon though, but I am looking forward to the new Trauma Center coming out on the Wii this fall.

I'm probably waiting for a price drop on the wii. Chances are, if the xbox 360 comes down to $199 in august, then the wii will soon have a price drop too.

Wii price drop? I can't imagine one coming soon, it's still selling like crazy, and it's already at a pretty reasonable price point. Launching at $250? I'd say it'll stay there for a good while longer... it's already the cheapest of the systems, and holding that position STRONG.

Maybe $299, but not $199...
And even at $199, it'd be the Core system that nobody wants anyway.
Malakai - July 25, 2007 03:59 PM (GMT)
Yes, it's suppose to be the core 360 dropping to $199. Many people don't need the hard drive... only if you want to download a lot of stuff or get original xbox support. For just 360 games, you don't have to have a hard drive or wireless controller..
ShawnKelfonne - July 26, 2007 01:51 PM (GMT)
No, but if you plan on playing online, then I'd assume you'd need the latest updates, which means you'll need the hard drive.
Also, keep in mind that without a HDD, you'll need to buy memory cards for your XB360 in order to save any game progress, which is $30-$50 on top of the cost of the console, depending on the size of the card you get.
The whole idea of two different versions of the same console was a stupid idea to begin with, especially since the Core pack is vastly inferior to the Premium.
Sure, I could see it happen, but I doubt it would worry Nintendo at all. All Nintendo would have to do is drop the Wii to $199 and match it, because to most people who are looking for an XB360, the real console will still be $299.
More realistically, I would see the Xbox dropping about $50.
This way, the core would match the Wii's price of $250, while the Premium would come in at $349. The elite could drop down below $400, and Sony would continue to look foolish out there with their FIVE HUNDRED AND NINETY NINE U. S. DOLLARS console.

It seems as though microsoft is trying to negotiate with their parts manufactures, to be able to do a price cut on the core system. It's possible that Microsoft is split in which price point to come down to. Many in Microsoft want to see the system go down to $199, to meet mass-market expectations, while others are trying to get the price down to $249.
To make a long story short, Microsoft wants to get build costs cheaper so that they can do a price cut, while there is a tug of war going on between the actual price cut they want to make.
Unfortunately, this could delay the price cut in to the holiday season, when they plan on releasing the IPTV and pvr functions.

Are you serious? The Xbox 360 dropping down to $199? I never heard of this!

While the worst case scenario is no price drop at all, this comes in as a good 2nd to last...........
Today, the xbox 360 core system drop $20 from $299 to $279, and the premium dropped $50 from $399 to $349. The elite only got a $30 price drop from $479 to $449.
As much as I have rooted for Microsoft this time around, I am disappointed in this move. Maybe they couldn't get the full $50 price drop on the core system due to recently lowering the hd-dvd drive.. who knows.
