Title: Sega Genesis Collection

That is how busy I have been, a rabid Sega fan like me finally picked up the collection for PS2. I skipped class just to play it...wow memories
Altered Beast always gets mocked in magazines, but I love the game. My favorite beast is the dragon, pretty indestructible. I still get that same glitch in round three where after the bear beats the boss I hit the attack button and the boss never shows up and I am trapped in the room with nowhere to go..lol
Golden Axe brought back memories and I actually never got to play part II before.
What can I say about the Phantasy Star series except some of the best hours I have spent playing rpgs..I will always love part 4. Playing the original Sonic again was great.
I would love to see more Sega compilations from the Genesis, Sega CD and Saturn time periods. To be able to play Snatcher, Shining Force 3 , Streets of Rage 2 , Panzer Dragoon and Nights on one disc would be golden.

Yeah I have it too. It's pretty cool. Whoever picked them out did a nice job. Maybe we'll see Streets of Rage stuff in the next set.
I think the RPGs on this collection are much more complex and take longer to beat. It seems like Sega spilled their guts when they made those Phantasy Star games. The third one is very difficult and takes a long time just to navigate alone. In Phantasy Star III, I found myself going in circles beating enemies and going back and forth to inns just to heal up- beating monsters and healing up, back and forth, with no net profit and little to show for all those so-called victories. *sigh*
This is one incentive to stick to action and platform.
Shinobi 3 is my favorite platformer on the disc. Very good music. Original level design. True to Japanese culture. Very easy to control- move, attack, jump/double jump, and ninjitsu. It never gets old.
I'm telling you guys, replay value made that game great and fun to pick up and play forever; so replay value should be a much higher priority now than it actually is. Why do games have to be a thousand hours long and only fun until it's been completed????
Well, the PS2 Sega Genesis Collection can be played for years on end without ever getting bored with it. And the best part is, everyone who grew up playing games can agree that this is a timeless must-have.
Anyway, I love it too. Hopefully in the next one Sega will just give us a more difficult English language Bare Knuckle 3 instead of the version we got.

It is a trip down memory lane. I never got to play Golden Axe III so that is occupying some of my time, but I can't get close to beating it yet. Is it just me or do parts II and III take a step backwards in terms of graphics and sounds. Part one had excellent sound effects and graphics.

I still wish that Sega would have brought over the enhanced versions of Phantasy Star that it was supposed to be putting out on the PS2 over in Japan.

The Jap Saturn Phantasy Star collection was great, except for the obvious language barriers and it only had 1-3..
Shaggy, thank you for the informative viewpoint on the powers of Phantasy Star 4 on Joe :D
