Title: Random notes on videogames I am playing

As a die hard rpg'er, I usually try almost ALL of them out, along with my goal of trying to beat the games I buy, which takes a lot of time and money. But, I have been disappointed with my recent purchases. Grandia 3 still has the same great battle engine with a few tweaks, but the characters are horrible and the story is worse than any other in the series. Phantom Brave is nothing like Disgaea and La Pucelle Tactics, you have to anchor or link your troops to objects and it gets so complicated, its not even worth it. Romance X is a strategy game, but it has changed so much that now there is no overall map and they got rid of turns so you continue in your city oblivious to the outside territories..........

However, I am very impressed with Shadow hearts, it reminds me of Legend of Dragoon, I also HIGHLY recommend Growlanser Generations as well as Fire Emblem(reminds me of Shining Force)

Are those all PS2 games? I've been playing Lunar 2 again for sega cd and cosmic fantasy 3 for pc engine. From what every one says, Cosmic Fantasy has a bad story line, but since the ones I'm playing are in Japanese, I don't really know the story line lol.

As for Lunar 2, I've been playing the same game for probably 6 years or so. It's wierd that I never played it all the way through it in a couple weeks, but it's just a couple hours here and a couple hours there. I think there are like 54 hours logged in to the saved game. It's probably close to the final boss, but I'm not sure exactly how close.

Yesterday, I got a new game for the worldgroup server called Mutants, which was very popular in the dialup days. It's a PVP RPG/MUD, with time travel and the ability to own many stores in the game, as well as to be able to play 5 different character classes from 1 account.

The thing that sets it apart from other muds is that it's both mindless and fun. Mindless = pretty easy learning curve, need limited abilities of mazes, and no quests... With a mini map and the ability to travel through time, even in this huge world, it makes it easier to navigate than some of your more standard muds, which some times have no maps.

Fun = owning stores, travelling through time...... In a lot of games, you may have a little storage area and limited ammount of stuff you can hold on your body, but there are a lot of stores in which you can buy, store items, gold, and ions, or you could try to corner the market by buying most of the stores and selling them all for a high profit. The only thing I don't like about that is that if you own too many stores, you have to keep enough money in them to pay for the taxes.

I was a big mutants, farwest trivia, and crossroads of the elements fan back in the day. Any one else remember any of these games?
