First of all, get a nature picture, something you took or something from google, im gonna use google this time.

Take your picture, My Pic
and then re-size and then crop out using your crop tool.
Crop Tool: user posted image <-- dont mind that BG but it should give you an idea how to do it on YOUR bg.

Now that you have your background picture cropped out, its time to make it better ;)

1. Duplicate Your Layer, (Ctrl+J)

2. Filter>Blur>Gaussian Blur
Radius: 2.0

3. Put your duplicated layer on overlay. note: for some pics, this is good enough, but if you want more lighting, and stuff, keep going.

3.5: If you want, you can repeat steps 1,2&3 to get your image to look darker- if you do this, make sure you duplicate your BACKGROUND layer, which should be your first layer.

4. Filter>Blur>Motion Blur
Distance: 15 pixels, [note: if 15 pixels doesnt look good, you can put it higher or lower.]

5. Duplicate your layer, (Ctrl+J)

6. Filter>Render>Lighting Effects, now on the scroll bar pick Blue Omni and put the color on White. [Note: For different sig BG's put the circle of light on other places, since my trees are in the middle, im gonna put the light in tords the center.] Like So: user posted image

7. Now put the opacity lower and put the layer on overlay.

Now your finished, add a border and add text. if you need help with borders and/or text, there is more tutorials that will help you in the Staff & Member Tutorials.

8 Optional: If your still not satisfied, you can add more color, by doing this; Layer>New adjustment Layer> Color balance, and click shadows. If your doing a nature scene in the woods, i would suggest trying to put shadow Up on Yellow and Green, if your doing a water scene, i would suggest Cyan, Blue and Green.

You should be finished now.

Congrats, and happy photomanipulating!
