in this tutorial, you will learn how to make your text look like its floating. (if you dont already know how to)
1. open up a new documen,t i chose 400x400, the size in this case doesnt matter.
2. Grab your text tool, and type something.
3. Now right click your text layer, and select Blending Options.
4. I did a few effects to make this text look more '3D' other then a just plain one color text, w/ the drop shadow, because if you do that it looks lame.
5. Select STroke, and i used these settings:
Note: Whatever color you use, doesnt matter, you can use any color you want, i just like the color light blue
6. Now check Bevel and emboss, and check Contour, i used the default settings, so you dont need to change anything.
7. IF your using a white background, like im using, outerglow wont really help, but if your using a dark color bg, i'd use outerglow, and if you do, i'd make the outer glow either default, or set the color as white, and if your font type is big, make the outer glow opacity higher.
8. Now for the drop shadow effect. Which should make it look like your text is off of the image, leaving its shadow on the image :P.
Settings:

Now your done! you should get something like this:
