in this tutorial, the text should come out like this

first off, make a bg, it's easiest if you make the bg without ANY color, completely desaturated,

1) make some delicious DELICIOUS text
2) add a color balance layer by going to layer>new adjustment layer>color balance and make it whatever color you want
3) go to your text layer, then blending options and go to gradient, you can use default, but i make a new gradient like this
4) add a black stroke, this picture should help

you could make the size 1, or 2, depending on your preference, in my experience, the bigger the stroke the more cartoony feel you get
5) make an inner shadow like so
mess with those settings yourself, these specs are never perfect
*6) add an outerglow like so just to enhance it more.
