ok... let start by making an image... make it ne thing u want as long as the sides are equal.. i used 800x800 but i scaled it down when i was finished.

Hit D on ur keyboard, to make the paint colours default. Fill ur background with black so you have this :)

Then make a flare in the corners by going to Filter>Render>Lens Flare. Make sure you have 50-30m zoom selected. you need to do this 4 times, (once for each corner). Then put one 105mm Prime in the middle soyou have something that looks like this

then duplicate ur image (Ctrl+J)
Go to Filter>Stylize>Finding Edges
Set the blending mode to exclusion so you have this:

and then merge your layers~! (Ctrl+e)

create a new layer, and click the gradient tool. Make sure that the diamond gradient is selected, and it goes from black to white, and set the mode to difference like so:

and make gradients from each corner to the middle of the document, then from the middle of the sides, to the middle of the document so that you have something like this:

then select the liner gradient

and make three lines in the middle like so:

and set the blending mode to difference so that you have this:

now merge all layers again (Ctrl+E)
go to Filter> artistic>plastic wrap with these settings
Highlight: 12
Detail: 3
Smooth: 15

now you should have something like this:

now go to Filter>Distort>Twirl and put the amount at 155. Then duplicate the layer, and go to Edit> Transform>flip horizontal and set the blending to darken. so that you have something like this:

merge you layers. (Ctrl+E)

now dupliacte layer (Ctrl+J) and go to Edit> Transform> Rotate CW 90 then set you blend mode to pin light.

now you can add artistic details if you wish...

Great tutorial. Easy to follow. I used your guidance on the "tribal" pattern to create a background for my desktop.
